Loihakka specialises in husky safaris. We are based in Varjakka, Oulu, Finland. In summer we also offer guided tours to the historical sawmill of the Varjakansaari Island. Our huskies love their work and we love to see them wagging their tails and eager to go. For this reason, our kennel is open on bookings only: as pack leaders, we want to make sure that our dogs have at least one full day of rest all to themselves. We have no minimum group size, so you are warmly welcome to visit our kennel on your own, too.

My two friends and I visited Loihakka in November 2019. There was a lot of snow in Oulu at the times, but unfortunately not enough to go on a sleigh trip. But we still wanted to visit the husky farm, and I was a great experince!! Maja was a kind host, who told us ALL about the dogs. You can really tell, that this family loves their dogs. Maja could tell the names of all the dogs, when they where born and so on. She anwsered all of our questions with great patience and humor - not just about the huskies but about Finish culture as well :-)
We will have to come back another times to go on a sleigh trip!!

I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly all the huskies were and that we were allowed to approach all of them and pet them, even while they were obviously excited that the spins were about to start.
We first went on a round of spins as passengers before we got to drive the dog sledge on our own (with the owner as a passenger). Awesome fun! Also learned a lot about huskies.

It is something special to visit the home of huskies and see how they live as a family.
Thanks to the staff who is very friendly and took us into their world of huskies including a spin.
You can book also hot chocolate / a meal after the spin whereas the sausages will be prepared on fire in a little cottage

We had a pleasure to visit Loihakka and play with huskies the other day. The hosts were very nice, we had a really good time.
Maija treated us with a delicious hot berry drink next to the fireplace in a cute hut. Instagram is filled with huskies now 😄

Loihakka has been a beautiful experience. The beauty of husky´s and their gentle soul are combined in this family business. We enjoyed our tour through the farm and the friendlyness of the owners.

We came by for a visit if this little charming husky farm. We were welcomed very open hearted and introduced to all the huskies.
There was to little snow for a ride - but meeting and getting to know the dogs was still very impressive. All of them alive to be petted, are calm and have good manners.
Definitely worth a visit!

I visited them on 27 dec 2018 evening around 6 pm. I went on a bicycle from my hostel which was 12 kms away.
Upon reaching their place, the owner welcomed me nicely. she was very pleased to introduce me to the huskies. we had a brief chat. upon seeing me freeze in the cold, she even offered a cup of hot berry juice!
i would visit again not just for the lovely dogs but also for the hospitality of the owners. :)

Owners are outgoing and helpful. Dogs are really well trained so you can pet all of them. You can also sledge on them if there is enough snow.

The most amazing huskies and guides I haave ever seen! We went to husky's farms on Rovaniemi also, but it doesn't even come close to what we experienced here in Loihakka!!! Super friendly and loving, lovely and loved dogs!!!!! you can feel that they are super loved and well taken care of by the way they welcome the visitors!!! Maija was an amazing host and told us a lot of nice information about the different huskies they own!!! Unfortunately the weather didn't allow us to do the ride, but we will for sure return for the ride!!! It was an amazing evening!!!! Thank you Maija very much!!!

A great place, beautiful huskies and such friendly people! There did go something wrong with my booking I asked for a long tour but got the short one. Nevertheless I enjoyed myself very much and got to save some money! Would go back

Hello! We are family, who want to meet a huskies and take a sled ride, if it is possible, but, unfortunately, our plane arrived in Oulu in 7th of january 2020 just about 14:00, and your rides start at 13:00. It's possible to book ride for 7 peoples later, at 15:00?

It's already getting dark at 3pm. Darkness is not a problem at kennel area, but the trails in the forest have no lights and it is a safety issue.

Yes you can use public transport, but there are only a few buses a day. And also long break in the middle of the day.
