- Marina T25 contributionsAn unforgettable experienceThe farm is beautiful, it was all snowy, and therefore the reindeer-drawn sleigh ride was a dream. The wonderful views. They take care of the animals exquisitely so that they suffer as little as possible. We were able to feed them, buy some souvenirs and even gave us a little lunch. They are very friendly and answer all questions. We were with little girls and they had a great time. We recommend it 100 percent.Visited December 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 December 2024
- clballasMilwaukee, Wisconsin107 contributionsBest reindeer farmThe best reindeer sleigh ride! Really nice staff and it was nice to feed the reindeer! Prinna was a great host! We had our own car, so we just went when we had free time. It was really nice they could accommodate us right away!Visited January 2025Travelled with friendsWritten 6 January 2025
- Dave BPortsmouth, United Kingdom63 contributionsThe Best! 5 StarWe visited the Kujala Reindeer Farm in December 2024. Family of 4 - 2 adults, 14 year old, and an 11 year old. We were part of the TUI package at Holiday Club Kuusamo and booked this as an extra excursion when we were out in Finland direct with the farm through their website (a lot cheaper than booking direct with TUI). It was around £240 for the 4 of us, we booked 12pm for the "Safari" (reindeer ride and tour) for 3pm that day. It was around 28 euro in the taxi from the hotel to the farm but was only around 10 minute rise (really expensive taxis!!). The whole experience was amazing and worth every single penny. The reindeer sleigh ride was around 2 miles long and took around 20-25 mins. The views are incredible. The sleighs are 2-person and your given a reindeer hide to keep you warm. Because we were the last booking of the day we had a private tour as no one else was booked on. They gave my daughter "Eric" the reindeer to walk up to the paddock which she loved. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all out questions. We then went into the paddock with around 50 reindeer and fed and interacted with them for a good 30 minutes, but could have had longer if we wanted. Would do it all again in a heartbeat. Don't miss out on this place if you are going to Kuusamo!!!Visited December 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 January 2025

I visited Kujalan Reindeer Farm last week with my family. We wanted a day off ski-ing and to experience something traditionally Finnish. We didn't go on the Crystal tour (which was really expensive) but called the reindeer farm direct and then got ourselves a taxi. Please note, YOU DO NEED TO BOOK AHEAD. You can't just turn up. However, we rung ahead and then set off straightaway as they had space.
The first thing I should say is that it is an expensive way to spend a couple of hours. It cost 59 Euros each for the sleigh ride (which lasted about half an hour) plus 12.5 Euros each for a bag of moss to feed the reindeer (which takes 10 mins max), plus about 40 Euros for the taxi ride from and to Ruka Village.
However, it was a delightful experience and still slightly cheaper than going on one of the organised tours (which are eye-wateringly expensive I have to say). We were met at the gate by our friendly guide who took us to the reindeers and allowed us to take pictures and then we set off on our sleigh ride which took about half an hour. It is a really peaceful and reflective way to spend half an hour, being gently pulled through the silent snow, surrounded by the drooping white trees.
After the sleigh ride we were taken to the Kota (traditional wooden teepee type hut) and invited to have coffee and pastry. We were then taken to the reindeer paddock where we were able to feed the reindeer and spend a few minutes talking to our guide about reindeer farming, which was actually very interesting.
We loved this outing and would definitely recommend. It isn't cheap but then nothing in Finland is cheap apparently. You just have to bite the bullet and immerse yourself in a bit of traditional Finnish culture. Fantastic for children.

I visited this amazing place twice (with help from Ruka adventures) and the experiences were the best from my trip to Finland.
Between the two visits I lead a reindeer (well really it just followed the herder) up a hill, fed several moss, took in a sled ride and joined the morning feed!
Even with poor weather, every moment was a joy. The Herders were very passionate about their Reindeer and of the wilderness and shared both information about the animals themselves as well as Thier own experiences.
When I am able to get back to Finland, I am definitely returning.
If you love animals and can get to this amazing place - do it!!
Can't recommend it enough.

We were visiting Lapland the week leading up to Christmas, we had already done the Santa visit and had finished up at the Husky Ride and it was our last afternoon.
We were all disappointed we had gone to Lapland and not seen a Reindeer, as we had just found out they are all farmed and owned in Finland and none roam free. So we gave Kujala Reindeer Farm a call to see if they could squeeze us in on a tour that afternoon, which, fortunately, they said they could.
We arrived a bit early for our tour and had hot chocolates in the cafe while we waited, the weather came in a bit, reduced visibility and the temperature dropped too.
The tour was great, we were walked along the track by a guide and a Reindeer called Wizard. At the end of the track we reached a field full of Reindeer, there must have been about 300-400. Tip: don't ask how many, I made that mistake and it is considered rude - equivalent to asking how much money they have.
Before we went into the field we were given specific instructions by our guide on how to feed the Reindeer with lichen and also safety items. Going into the field was amazing, you get swarmed by the Reindeer but they are very friendly (assuming you have food for them!)
We spent about 20 minutes in the field feeding the Reindeer before it the wind picked up and it started getting a bit cold, the group unanimously decided to go back. The kids loved the experience and really glad Kujala made the effort to accommodate us last minute as we would have been disappointed had we left Lapland without getting the opportunity to do this experience.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Finland! A beautiful location, facility and experience. We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenaged kids) who braved the cold (-25) and had a great time. We signed up for the World of Reindeer Safari trip and would highly recommend as you get to learn about reindeer, take a reindeer led sleigh ride and also feed the reindeer. It's all quite magical. The facility is excellent and well maintained. After the tour there is a small café and shop which we really appreciated after spending 2 hours outside.

We went for a morning reindeer tour and did not regret it. We paid 25e which was totally worth it. We got to see tens/hundreds of reindeers, hear interesting stories and facts of reindeers, feed them, go for a reindeer ride (extra price), enjoy coffee and tea in a cozy hut, and to buy special items made of reindeer skin/hide and antlers. The farm originates from 1860, so the farmers have a long experience with reindeers. The English level of the guides was good.

We had the absolute pleasure of visiting the reindeer centre today, we had the best time and the experience is an absolute must. The place is breathtakingly beautiful and the animals are really well cared for and looked after, we loved every second of our experience and will treasure the family memories for a lifetime! The only thing I’d say is the beautiful and new reindeer shop and coffee shop wasn’t open and we’d have loved to have warmed up after our experience with a yummy hot choccy with all the trimmings and a naughty cake. Also when we went today it was -21 and our kids were freezing cold it may have been a good idea after the sleigh ride to heat up in front of a fire or in a warm room before heading off to feed the reindeers, as both my kids haven’t experienced temperatures that low before so they were extremely uncomfortable with painfully cold toes and hands even with gloves and snow boots on. Next time we will take hand warmers and feet warmers with us. However on the whole the experience was fabulous and a very impressive set up. Our guide was absolutely lovely and it really showed how much she loved the reindeers and her role there, she was just brilliant.

A shame ! Toursite trap, charging €25/person to give a handful of lichen to amorphous reindeer, in 15 minutes it's way too expensive!! There is no real tour of a real farm.
The store's prices are just as crazy, €295 for a reindeer hair sweater??
In short, for my part I wouldn't be fooled again.

We did the Magical Evening Sleigh ride. Would take 1 hour, in reality it is a trip of about 20 minutes on a dark forest path. With us it snowed a lot, the Farm can't help it of course, but on the way you could see nothing, no lights along the path, nothing. So little Magic, so to speak.
It costs around 70 euros pp, for a trip of 20 min. If you still want to feed the reindeer there is 21 euros pp. I really thought this was the least experience of our Lapland adventure, and if you have to make choices, I wouldn't do this again. Then better a trip (you) during the day, then you can at least see something

An amazing few hours doing the world of reindeer tour. Truly authentic experience, feeding the reindeers and having a sleigh ride (wife’s highlight of our entire trip). A fantastic newly built cafe/shop at the top of the hill overlooking the surrounding scenery.
Couldn’t recommend more.

We visited the farm on Thursday (2nd Jan 2020). We booked the day before, communication with the farm was fantastic.
On arrival to the farm we were greeted immediately. It was really lovely that we were welcomed and they were expecting us, rather than having to have a clip board with names on it to confirm our booking. Very personal touch.
The sleigh ride was magical.
Feeding the reindeer was just amazing, being that close to them.
The man who owns the farm is so knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what he does ... we heard his stories whilst sat around the fire in their coffee shop.
The little gift shop is a really lovely touch, most of the products are made on the farm, and they make sure to use every part of the reindeer.
A really lovely day.
Reindeer sleigh ride (300m) - €27
Reindeer feeding - €25
Coffee & a Finnish cake (or sausage) - €5
We took a bus from Ruka Village to the farm, which cost €4.50 (took approximately 15 minutes).
Unfortunately the timings of the bus for the return journey did not fit in with the time we required, so we got a taxi from the farm back to Ruka village, which is 13 km (10-12 minutes). This cost us €46.
I would definitely recommend trying to attend the farm with it fitting in with the bus times, to avoid hefty taxi fare.
We were at the farm for a total of 2 hours, from time of arrival, the sleigh ride, feeding the reindeer and then enjoying the warmth of the coffee shack. This was a perfect amount of time, we did not feel rushed. Nor did we feel like we could of spent any longer at the farm.
It is evident that the family run farm really care about their reindeer and also care about making sure their customers have a lovely, informative visit.
