That first moment when the first bear I have ever seen in the wild emerged from the forest, nose sniffing the air and ears cocked was a never-to-be-forgotten experience. We saw nine bears altogether, including a stand-up fight between two big males, the roars a fortissimo echoing through the pines, spruces and birches. White-tailed and golden eagles perched on the branches of dead pine trees. Goshawks chasing the ravens over the swamp. A thrilling evening of strong, low Nordic sunlight. All eight people in the hide were serious nature lovers and were absolutely silent. It was very meditative: spiritual, even. The guides were quiet and respectful, but seriously knowledgeable.

Unique experience, we loved it. We saw many bears coming and going, taking the food that was put out. Not cheap, but well worth every Cent. Would do it again!

We were lucky to be able to join the last trip of the season and we weren't disappointed - we were amazed! Over four hours we watched eight different bears appear from the forest...Some of the time we were able to see as many as four. A wonderful experience and a real privilege to watch such huge, wild creatures from the safety of a very comfortable hide. Thank you karhukuusamo!

We stayed at the grand hide last summer. Great view to the swap area and the treeline. Exeptionally good thing about the hide is, that you can actually walk around and stretch your legs, making it easier to stay alert. The hide has a few bunks, making it possible to stay over night and observe the wildlife at its best: during the dense hours, middle of the night. We saw 16 different bears up close, including a motherbear with her cubs! Amazing experience!! We are planning to visit Karhu Kuusamo again this summer. - Andy
