Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

All in all I was a bit disappointed as it did look bigger when we looked at it before our arrival. Of the 4 mail lifts only two worked.

We had a wonderful winter holiday in Salla Ski Resort, Sallatunturi, although we didn't take part in downhill skiing. Instead of it we tried many other activities: cross-country skiing, electric fatbikes, snowshoes etc. They lend the necessary equipment in Salla Ski Resort. So you can borrow them there and you don't need any own equipment.

There are 160 kilometers of cross-country skiing tracks (43 kilometers of them are illuminated), 3 winter biking tracks (each 12-16 kilometers), 2 snowshoe trails (2.5-5 kilometers) and 3 winter walking trails (2-5 kilometers) in Salla Ski Resort and the nearby nature with fell views. All tracks and trails are maintained very well with snowmobiles.

The most wonderful winter walking route starts from Sallatunturintie 4 Parking (next to Salla Sports Center) and more precisely from the northern side of the black slope (Kilparinne). This route goes on the top of Fell Small Sallatunturi (Pieni Sallatunturi). The route follows the sides of the black slope and the northern slope and ends to the observation tower of Fell Small Sallatunturi. There is also a Lapp hut named Peak Hut (Huippukota) next to the observation tower. There is a campfire site in the hut. The route is about 2 kilometers in one direction. It is maintained so well that you can walk with normal winter shoes. However, the slope is very deep. So you should walk slowly and have much time.

Best snowshoe trails and winter biking tracks start from the northern side of Tunturikummuntie Parking. This snowshoe trail is a circle route (5 kilometers) over the Fell Big Sallatunturi (Iso Sallatunturi). The winter biking track is called Kaippahanoja trail and it is a circle route, which is 13-16 kilometers long. It may be quite challenging if snow is very soft. You should have an electric fatbike and plenty of time. However, I guarantee that you will see extremely beautiful scenery on the way.

This was our dream holiday!

Incredible nice holiday with only highlights. Did the husky safari, snowshoe walks, reindeer safari, snow scooter, eMTB and of course skiing. See the northern lights twice 😃Will never forget this holiday.

Great e-fatbiking tour!! Guides adapt the speed to your group (and even split the group), so no long waiting and lots of challenging snowpaths through beauriful snowy forest!! Kids and us loved it, one of the best activities here!

Currently I’m still in resort at time of review. Purely from a skiing perspective I’m sure this is a great to learn to ski. Nothing challenging or scary at all. We came here as good intermediate skiers. With only 10Km of skiing we understood from the start that it was only a small area. We came for other activities in mind and from looking at the ski area we thought there would be enough skiing on the side. However, three days in and only half of the mountain is open. Loads of snow so that isn’t a problem. No wind, so again, that can’t be the problem. Apparently the answer is that it is low season...at the beginning of February!!. When you pay over £160 for a pass, unless there is a very good reason to shut half the mountain you expect it all to be open. We have loved it here so far but for reasons other than the skiing. Come Salla Ski resort, this is not good enough. Paying customer should either be warned about this or there should be a reduced lift pass to reflect the available skiing.

Me and my mum have just had a weeks ski holiday to salla Finland in the kelorinne log cabins, this place is something else, salla is quiet, it's great for beginners and intermediates, not much in the way of advance slopes (black runs) but there are plenty of activities for non skiers though. The cabins themselves are incredibly well catered for, log fire and fire wood.. longer the fire going I recommend stripping the bark off the logs. They supply matches. Fridge freezer, dishwasher, oven grill 4 oven rings, hot plate, clothes drying thing, sauna. Cabins would comfortably fit 4 in. Says 4 To 6 but 6 would be cramped. DVD player, radio, underfloor heating. It's a quiet resort, has 3 restaurant near by and all lovely, a very small shop with basic stuff at the hotel that has a spa, they provide a few cleaning products and a hair dryer for those that need it. Cabins are warm and cosy.. not far from the slopes. If you travel with crystal ski harry is the resort rep and is fantastic, if you do the ski school vlad and liisa are fantastic also. Everyone is friendly. If you've come self catering, they stop off at a massive tesco like supermarket for you to get your weeks shopping. You get 30 mins. They have washing up liquid and your stuff for dishwasher already. The slopes themselves are great for skiing. And it's a beautiful country.. the water is the purest in the world and lovely to drink. Top tip dress with layers. In all I cant wait to come back.

Loistava paikka rauhoittumiseen ja monenmoisiin aktiviteetteihin sekä ulkoiluun poissa hälinästä. Tänne pitää tulla aina uudelleen.

Great place to chillout! Good selection of outdoor activities without hustle and bustle!

Always have to come back.

This one hell of the place to visit. Our house is placed in between two slopes which u can use without any queues to get to the top. Down hills are not too long but pleasant. Few coffee shops around to get hot drink and relax after time in a snow. Easy reachable via car, roads kept reasonable clear. There is a place to go with your sledge too or a ski school for those making first steps into winter madness. Also very quiet, you wont find crowds here. We are here with two kids and cant fault anything.

Having heard of the good bike routes in Salla, we decided to rent regular fatbikes and headed for the Kaunisharjun kierros (about 15 km) as per the nice shopkeeper's advice. The route turned out to be a great mix of easier and challenging terrain with some duckboards and steep climbs and downhills along the way. There were also some absolutely beautiful spots and sceneries on the way. We finished the route in around three hours and had plenty of time for breaks on the way as well.

All in all, we had great fun and I recommend renting fatbikes here and taking the Kaunisharju route. We're definitely coming back to give the e-fatbikes a go!
