It was really exciting to meet the husky dogs. They are really friendly dogs with a touch of wild. At some point during our visit a guardian went to pick some dogs for a sledge and they all went NUTS in their cages asking to be picked. It was interesting to witness - not scary but impressive for sure. We also paid for the sledge ride. Definitely an experience but I found it expensive for how short it lasted. Accessing the park is free and you cat pet the dogs and see them run with the sledge also from over a bridge. Don’t miss to read the name tags on the cages, some are full of humour and it helps you to see how different the dogs are.

We absolutely loved this place. We have a 1.5 year old and a 4 year old and came here every day we were in Rovaniemi. The ticket allows you to come to the park any day you're there for your trip so make sure to go your first day and enjoy the huskies ever day you're there! It was so crazy to watch all the dogs go crazy when they are choosing dogs for the pulling that day. They ALL want to be apart of it and the whole park is howling and barking and some dogs even climb the fences! It was such a unique thing to watch and made our kids laugh a lot. We did the 1km husky ride and it was such a thrill for all of us! The workers took the time to explain a lot to us about how the teams work and how they train. After the ride they gave us plenty of time to talk to the dogs and pet them and learn more about them. Then we did the husky hugging where we got to feed the dogs treats and be in an enclosed area with about 5-6 dogs. The dogs are pretty full of energy so it was sometimes hard to have our kids feel confident without us holding them but they were nice, just excited. We loved walking around and learning about the dogs from their name plates. The worker there, Iida was really a gem. She spent so much time with us and telling us fun stories. Overall you can't go wrong coming here. You can tell how much the workers love the dogs. They all look happy and taken care of. We hope to come back here again one day. Beware- some of the dogs like to steal gloves so either take them off your kids or make sure they don't put their hands in the kennels.

5km ride and husky petting. The dogs are stunning, beautiful and very friendly and relaxed around you. Our guide was super. I did the tour with my 9 year old son who adored the dogs. After paying €115 for the husky drive I felt slightly ripped off to then have to pay an additional €10 each to go in to the enclosure to pet the dogs but it was lovely to do. It was a 5 star experience but the additional fee for petting the dogs made it seem a bit too cynical/commercial.

I probably should have known that a place called "Huskypark" wouldn't have animal welfare at the top of its priority list. The only reason I could say that I am glad that I went is to tell other people to stay away. I left after five minutes because I was so appalled and disturbed by the treatment of the huskies and the conditions in which they're kept. A couple of them were kept on chains no longer than a foot or two, howling and wailing incessantly. Most of the dogs are kept in cages. Some just lie there, others pace back and forth, and some just howl. It's really heartbreaking. I tried to ask a girl who worked there if they are ever let out of their cages, but she didn't understand me. This isn't a cultural difference or something; this definitely demonstrates that animal cruelty is worldwide.

Response from HuskyPark2015, Office Assistant at Arctic Circle Husky Park

We are very sorry for your experience! The dogs and their wellbeing is very important for all of the workers in Arctic Circle Husky Park and we are doing everything we can to keep the dogs happy. None of our dogs are on chains, but we do have one yard-dog, who is loving the life in our front yard, being with the customers, but besides that all of our dogs are living in cages. They have their own running area, where they can run freely and be with the other dogs as well. Because of the chains you mentioned in your message, that made us wonder that there are couple of other husky companies located very near to us, of which we can’t be sure how they keep their dogs, in cages or on chains. We clean the cages daily and take very good care of our dogs, and have also received positive feedback about it. Some of our dogs are sometimes howling and barking, but mostly during feeding time and when we start making the team ready for the safaris. All of our dogs love running from the bottom of their hearts and some of them may be little loud, because they just want to be picked for the team. All of our workers speaks English very well. We also have some trainees working in Husky Park, but as far as I know, all of them are also speaking English well, so it sounds a little odd what you told about the situation. If you are still in Santa Claus Village, you are more than welcome to come for a visit and see that we do really care about the dogs and their wellbeing and work for it in so many ways.

We enjoyed the husky riding very much. It was cold in winter and there was only 500 meter ride available on the day of our visit. There are 106 huskies in the park and each one has his/her own name. The ride was fast and fun! The staffs are very friendly and nice too! For 2 adults and 1 child, we paid Euro 95 to visit the park and did the 500 meter riding. It was really fun!:)
