Marttini Old Knife Factory
Jun 2019
This is known as Marttinin Wanha Tehdas in Finish. It was built in 1928 and badly burned in the 1940s. It was refurbished in 1998 and the knife factory operates from this historical building. It has high quality knives which are sold in shops. I just saw it from outside and did not actually go in the building

A quick stop with knifes
Jul 2019 • Couples
As a sight, this place is somewhat limited being just one larger room at the ground floor of the building the company used have the manufacturing earlier (nowadays the company is about 5km away and the building is mainly used by a doctor's practice). Half of the space is a small museum like exhibition with some old models etc, and the second half is basically an outlet shop. There are plenty of knifes available without the plastic packaging. With the exception of the ones with some small, usually optical, defects, the knives cost the same as in the normal stores, and some you can get even cheaper from a large supermarket. Still, here you can check how the product fit your hand and how they really look.

Store and mini-exhibit of knifes

90 year old knives house…One of the few buildings spared during the second world war. Take a look at the mini museum of old knives and pick souvenirs to bring back.

Factory shop with second quality items
Mar 2019 • Family
Traditional finnish knives.
Very nice knives with a huge range of types/prices.
I have looked at the knives our guides used and there were a lot of Marttiinin.
Don't miss - they have a defectives section with 20% off the list price. Some of the defects are almost none existent....
If you are not going for the defectives then the prices are the same here, inn the mall or in the santa village shop.

Beautiful factory shop with a little museum
Aug 2018 • Solo
In this shop you can buy local made knives which are really good quality, and you pay them the right price for that!
Unfortunately it is not possible anymore to visit the old factory but they have made a little (very little) museum inside the shop.
There also are other shops around the town so you can see them everywhere, but this is the original one

A Sharp experience!
Sep 2017 • Solo
This was a must for me, as I dabble and use knives on a regular basis...
The Company has been a round for like ever, thy import the finest Steel from Germany for the blades, and use local wood for the handles.
Like Scots andour Kilts The Fins are ever so partial to knives, and you will get used to seeing folks carry them around their necks wearing them mid chest! I had to of course bring one home. Proud owner of the Perigrine design featuring the metal head of the bird on the end of the handle

Is a shop with an exhibition rather than a museum with a shop!
Feb 2018 • Friends
I would not classify this place as a "museum". Is a shop with an exhibition of old knives and pictures of the old factory which is located in the old factory building.
It was interesting to go there and to listen at Ollie and all her explanations. If she would have not explain anything, the visit would not have been interesting and we would have just seen "knives everywhere" without understanding the different uses and the significance for the Finnish people.
I would not put this place in the priority list, but if you are nearby, you have time, you are planning to buy a knif or you want to get a bit more knowledge on knives, I definetly recommend to go here!
