Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Walking in a beautiful forest area, covered in low annuals, imagining a scene in winter where the snow is often up to a metre deep. The path is well formed and easy to walk on. Tranquil, though in summer be prepared for mosquitos.

We took a drive down from Rovaniemi which took just over an hour. Easy to find.

We only saw two other couples on the entire 3.5km trail - if was a cold day with snow around which perhaps puts the locals off visiting. The cafe was closed.

The trail is very well marked and once you are away from the force of the dam and former log chute, there are literally no sounds other than nature to disturb.

An inquisitive reindeer followed us for a while but given it was winter the rest of nature was keeping warm elsewhere.

There are a few steps up and down and as it was slippery underfoot we covered the route in a steady 2.5 hours.

A lovely way to take in the fresh air and see some of Finland’s natural beauty.

A 16-meter waterfall, surrounded by pristine forests. An old log flume sits next to the falls as a memento of the time the river was used to transport logs (late 1800's to 1970's). Lovely scenery and well worth a visit. The walking trail now incorporates even special steps for dogs on the metal stairs.

We stopped here on our way from Ruka to Rovaniemi. Wonderful walk in the nature and afterwards a lovely snack in the very nice cafe. There is also a very interesting little museum on the site.

One of the best place around Rovaniemi, just one hour drive, 80 km on south east direction. Beautiful river and waterfalls. Very nice and easy trail around, 3,5 km, 1- 1.5 hours. Excellent for a half day trip.

I highly recommend visiting Auttiköngäs! Wonderful walk, scenery, small forestry museum and cafe. We even saw beavers at the base of the waterfall.

We hike the Autikongas on a warm sunny day in August. The terrain was interesting and the hike was fun, with lots of steps, a suspension bridge and a tunturi. I am not the most athletic person, but I took my time and remember it as one of my favorite events in Finland.

Very enjoyable walk in the woods. Wooden path is a little slippery when wet. Many berries and mushrooms, but surprisingly no mosquitoes in August.
