We took our children ages 4 & 8 here , we booked on for the Toy Factory experience and had the most magical time, we booked a private experience and so were collected from our hotel by an elf Peppi who was delightful over a 40 minute + journey to Joulukka she knew lots of details about our kids and they just fell in love with her -she had us all playing games and singing, then we arrived at the forest to meet another elf Sweetie who was so cheerful and sweet, i won’t spoil the surprise but the toy factory experience housed in one of the beautifully designed cabins in the forest was wonderful- the 2 elves were with us the whole
time and they ask the children to take part in about 8 different little magical activities as part of the toy factory and they were blown away by it all. it was so fun and special, with a keepsake coin to take home then we came upon a room with a door that magically opened and there was santa himself he was delightful,
and they were mesmerised - he told them a story about his ‘ childhood ‘ and knew details from home about our children and spoke about their christmas wishes and the importance of kindness and gave them a cute christmas gift. When it was time to leave he asked if we would like photo outside and we walked down to the frozen lake 1 min walk and got the most stunning pictures with him and the gorgeous elves. The lake itself was just mesmerising too. Time to say goodbye to the forest and Sweetie came in the private taxi minibus to entertain us and we were drop us off at our chosen drop off point which was Santa park and we went straight in there and really enjoyed all the experiences there, no need to queue for santa as we had just seen him but it was all wonderful the best day of our trip!

We visited as a group of six - two kids age 5 and 9, parents and grand parents. We were picked up by Twinky at our hotel. His costume was amazing and the kids were thrilled. We then drove some distance through a forest and arrived outside the command centre. We were split into groups and waited our turn to go in. Elves entertained the kids with games and sleds and toasting marshmallows in a wigwam with an open fire. We all participated in the fun. The command center was really well done with a reindeer radar, kindometer and a magic post office. We then visited the big man himself who was excellent. The kids were mesmerised. Then off to elf school and gingerbread decorating in another beautiful warm cabin. All in all a wonderful trip that was worth the €1k cost for our party. We would highly recommend to anyone considering it.

Considering I booked this tour for my sister and I over two months before going, and paid 300 euros, disappointed is a complete understatement.

Firstly, the coach was over 45 mins late, and despite the elves reassuring us that we would make up the time at end, we were still back at the coach for the same time as planned (majority of the planned time was spent on the coach - maximum time spent in the forest was an hour).

Our gingerbread decorating was in the dark for some reason, and thoroughly rushed - we had to decorate and eat them within 5 mins as our elf was pushing us out of the door.

Our visit to Santa was pretty mundane and cringy - he read out our wishes in front of us, and didn't interact as much as Santa in Santa's Village. I am seriously questioning what I paid for - a very, very overpriced coach trip, decorating a gingerbread in less than 5 mins, and a super quick trip to Santa

Overall, very disappointed in this experience.

We were then dropped off at Arctic Treehouse, deflated where we walked into Santa Park (Cavern) and thoroughly surprised - this was an incredible experience that I would definitely recommend to everyone - it is much cheaper, and is very magical for all the family, and it is also indoors which is perfect for the cold weather. Everything at the Santa Park Cavern was thoroughly enjoyable - we rode a magical train, decorated and ate gingerbread (again- but this time, the experience was so festive and enjoyable, and not rushed). We also made some crafts, watched an elf show, visited Santa's Post Office, visited the Ice Kingdom and bought some really unique gifts for our family (All within the same ticket price of 35 euros purchased upon arrival, minus the gifts, of course).

I was expecting a premium service from Joulukka, and it definitely did not deliver its promise of a magical time.

This an incredible experience for a young child. Farmer the Elf collected us from our hotel and took us to the forest and was charming, funny, wholly authentic and superb with our 6 year old son. He 'knew' all the details about our son's life and was totally convincing. The walk through the forest with another elf was entertaining and built real anticipation before we entered the command centre. The various details in there just kept building towards meeting Santa and when our little one turned a corner and saw Santa sitting there and just ran to him and hugged him it really brought a lump to to our throats. Santa was amazing and there was one element that demonstrates just how passionate everyone in this team are about ensuring the whole experience is the best it can be and utterly memorable and authentic for children. The day before, whilst walking to our car at a reindeer farm we chanced upon Santa and an elf going into the farm to see a group of children, they stooped for a chat. This was just as the guide was telling us Santa chose his reindeer from that farm. It was a completely unplanned, chance meeting and blew our son away. The next day we were due to visit Santa in the forest so I when we got back to the Arctic Treehouse Hotel I checked with the hotel staff that the Santa we would be meeting would comparable with Santa we had just met. They went out of their way to identify who we had met and ensure that Santa the next day was of a close enough comparable appearance and then made sure he would 'remember' meeting our son the day before at the reindeer farm. As you can imagine the merest mention of that previous 'meeting' made our son feel so special.

Dear goonerdspa66, Greetings from Santa's Secret Forest - Joulukka, It was so wonderful to have you with us in the Secret Forest, Elf Farmer and his elf friends were so excited to read your wonderful review and they asked to pass their greetings from the Secret Command Center. Forest elves are very wise fairytale creatures, they make sure to travel around the world and peek through every single window in order not to miss anything - it is important for them to know if the big children (adults) and little children (children) were kind this year and if they met any other elves or Santa himself before. Our fairytale team is always happy to collect and investigate as many details as we can before your visit to guarantee a purely unforgettable and tailor made experience for you and your nearest & dearest! Hope to see you again soon - there are so many elf secrets waiting to be discovered at Santa Claus Secret Forest - Joulukka, With the best Christmassy wishes, Elf Deni

We attended the dream of joulukka, and although it was expensive it was totally worth it. We didn't do the private experience and only had about 12 others in our group which didn't take away from the experience at all. The kids loved the elves that looked amazing and were very playful. the meeting with Santa at the end felt very private the way the elves organised it and we had plenty of time to chat and ask questions.
The forest itself is stunning with squirrels and dear running through the trees.
Highly recommend.

Yes, it was very pricey. The elves were late picking us up. Snow happened to fall by the time we got off the van. So the "secret forest" was covered with snow and we got to experience snow fall. The snow didn't stop falling until we left; it was very magical. We were first led to a kota to attend the "elf school". We also decorated our gingerbread cookie there. Afterwards we walked to the "command center" and met Santa at his "office". We visited on Dec 23, coupled with the snowfall it was just very festive. While waiting to see Santa there were plenty of snow for my kids to play with!

Dear LAX-HKG, Greetings from Santa Claus Secret Forest - Joulukka, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! Usually by December Lapland is fully covered with snow and it keeps on snowing and snowing. What a delight to explore all the secrets in the snowy forest and make some really huge snowmen! Sometimes large amounts of snow may delay some human ways of transportation, so Santa is very lucky to have his reindeer to make sure that everyone's gifts are delivered on time in Christmas! We hope that you could visit Lapland some time again so we could show you more magical places in Joulukka! With the best Christmas wishes, Elf Deni

We spent more than 1 year planning for this once-in-a-lifetime experience for our girl. She is 10, but still believes in Santa Claus and his unexplainable talents - flying on a sleigh, squeezing through chimneys, eating all those cookies and still maintaining his weight, lactose tolerance, etc. But I think this visit shattered her beliefs.

We were told that the Private Dream of Joulukka tours typically consisted of about 60-80 people and so we decided to splurge and book a private visit with Santa for only 1,850 Euro for the three of us!

On the anticipated day and hour, we were met by a cute "elf". She tried everything to be funny and to play the part, but she was aiming at a 6 or 7-year-old and not at a 10-year old. And so, that didn't go over well. Anyway, after a 45 min drive in a minivan we were transported to the enchanted forest. We walked a short distance on a lit path to a yurt where we were met by a much bigger elf (6ft at least). What happened to the “exploring the enchanted forest” part of the brochure advertising?
In the yurt we sang some silly songs, etc. Again, if I was around 7 years old it would have been awesome. I could see my daughters face and I could read her thoughts – “Papa, can we go dog-sledding instead”? Anyway, we muddled through the singing and then came the gingerbread cookie decorating. Wheee! We were each given a gingerbread cookie, a tube of something that looked like glue (but was probably sugar) and some sprinkles. We wanted to pass on this fun activity but decided not to be rude and played along with the elves and completed our task. We were given bags to take our cookies, but we thought it best to decline their generous offer.

We were expecting the place to be teeming with elves but our two were the only ones we saw. Then, out of the dark, we saw another two elves returning from dropping off their group of suckers. Another of our visions shattered – there are only 4 elves that help Santa with his chores.

Next came the visit to his command center. Again, we had visions of looking in on an air traffic control-like room with all kinds of screens and lights, etc. Instead, we were in a small room that looked like an abandoned first world war communication room in one of the trenches. It was ramshackle, with an old phone on the wall, an old antique radio, a map with lines which probably showed Santa’s route, Santa’s certificate qualifying him for something or another. This was the command center. We have been lied to by all those Christmas movies that showed Santa’s headquarters! Sacrilegious! I could read my daughter’s thoughts – “why did you drag me here”?
Then we heard some banging and voices. Finally, we were going to see some action. Some elves making the millions of toys, etc. Instead, it was a recording coming from a hole in the ground. Alas, we were not going to see the worker bees. The eyes in my daughter’s head were doing cartwheels. Then a secret door opened, and we stepped into a hidden room. And there was the Man himself, sitting wide in his chair, as big as his pictures, fully validating the fact that he does eat every one of the cookies that little boys and girls leave for him on Christmas eve.

At last we were going to meet Santa Claus himself. But wait, his beard is dusty. Did he not wash it? Did he just pick it up off the ground and snap it on? That was a genuine fake beard that you would find on any mall Santa. At this point my daughter was just playing along with it. There was still some doubt in her mind that this could be THE Santa Claus. Her mind was probably going – “how did Santa know what she got for Christmas, and where she lived, and what she had asked for on previous Christmases”? (We had shared all this with the elf that came to pick us up).

We spent about 20 minutes with Santa – him lecturing my daughter on how to be good, and listen to her parents (agreed wholeheartedly), etc., etc. Then came the pictures, hugs and goodbyes.

The elf then walked us to the waiting minivan and we were headed back to our hotel.
That was it. We were totally underwhelmed by the super-expensive experience. Over dinner my daughter was pointing out that the elves’ ears and noses were wax and that Santa’s beard was totally fake. We are still playing up the fact that Santa was real – he probably shaved his beard after Christmas so that it doesn’t grow too long and to maintain his image, he put on a fake beard. Does she buy it? Who knows. She will continue to believe in Santa just to get a gift from him in addition to the ones from us.

So, if you have kids that are younger than 7 (maybe 8), they may still be excited about a visit with Santa. But, in my opinion, you could get the same experience by going to your local Mall and visiting the Santa there. A lot cheaper and you won’t be disappointed.

The best part about our trip to Rovaniemi was the dog sledding. Do it if you have the chance.

Dear lm1058, Greetings from Santa Claus Secret Forest - Joulukka! Thank very much for sharing your experience about your trip to Lapland. We are sorry to hear that your visit did not meet your expectations and hoping that one day you could visit Lapland again to enjoy some more husky rides, seeing Santa's reindeer and visiting us again! We are always happy to see guests from all around the world coming to enjoy magical moments with forest elves and Santa! During our Group experiences usually more than one or three families are joining us, while our aim is to make every guest's journey is purely unforgettable and personalized. For that reason we never have Group Dream of Joulukkka programs with the amount of 80 guests. Our selection of premium Private experiences is tailor made specifically for a visit of one family, making it a pure fairy tale! During the winter time there are so many elves around in the Secret Forest - some of them are tip toe walking around the snow, some of them are picking from behind the trees - sometimes you can even see Santa's Reindeer walking or flying above the forest! It is great that you met more elves in the forest - they are quite good at hiding and being silent. However, we are happy to hear that elves that joined you from the first moments of your experience to the very last were entertaining your little girl and making sure that you are feeling comfortable during the snowy walk through the forest and discovering all the elf secrets. Forest elves keep their biggest elf secret - Command Center well hidden - that's why the entrance is located inside the big snow hill in a Lappish forest, lit only with special outdoor candles. With all the different elf devices inside several spacious rooms elves are making sure that everything is well coordinated and is on a good speed to be ready for Christmas! Santa Claus visits Command Center from time to time - it is so great that you were lucky to find him in his hidden room! We would like to assure you that elves do their best in maintaining Santa's beard - you probably remember how curly and long it was - some of the little elves like to sleep inside it and maintain those curls dustfree. It is also wonderful to hear that Santa and the elves knew everything about your family - elves and Santa have magical ways to get and use this information in order to make every guests' special moments in Joulukka purely unforgettable! Only few meters away from the Command Center elves are busy at making many toys for for Christmas - at the Santa's Secret Toy Factory! That's where the banging noise was coming from - we hope that one day you and your little girl could come back to Joulukka to meet the toy factory elves and try making some toys with them! Hope all of you got many gifts this wonderful Christmas, With the best wishes, Elf Deni
