About Lapland Safaris - Rovaniemi
Our story starts in Rovaniemi with two mates, who in 1982 had four snowmobiles and a desire to share the beautiful sceneries of Lapland with other people. The plan was to arrange adventures that guests would remember for life. The pair decided to offer customers something new: meticulously organised adventures in the wilderness nature of Lapland. The market welcomed this concept with open arms and Lapland Safaris began to grow both in reputation and in size. Nowadays we are the most experienced and reputable safari company in Finland operating in Rovaniemi, Levi, Ylläs, Saariselkä and Olos.

We spent 5 days with Lapland Safaris. Each day, they picked us up on time. The buses were modern and clean. The leaders were so friendly and helpful, especially Ismo, who we had for a few days in a row. The children grew very fond of him. We did a day each of Reindeer, Huskies, Snowmobiles. We also did Ice fishing, but if we had known that there was a lot of snowmobiling included, we probably would have skipped the snowmobiling on it's own. Either way, we had heaps of fun. We also spent a day at Ranua Wildlife Park, which was incredible. I can't recommend Lapland Safaris enough, they really looked after us and they gave us memorable experiences to cherish forever.

My family group of 7 visited Rovaneimi from the 23rd Dec - 26th Dec 2019. We booked all our activities of snow mobile safari, Aurora Borealis Adventure, husky Safari, Santas hideaway over 3 days with Lapland Safaris. Thats like 4x7= 28 activities. These guys run one of the largest safaris there with huge groups for each activity and clockwork precision. What they lack is empathy to their customers. Our first activity with them the Snowmobile Safari, they make you sign forms that mention that you are liable for damages to the snowmobile upto somewhere around 950 euros. But at the same time, they fail to hand over a pamphlet informing you that on payment of 15 euros this liability could be limited to 150 euros. So halfway through the safari, when I switched with the other customer driving the snow mobile, the safari leader started going faster and in order to keep up, I too did the same. Soon enough at a turn, I ploughed into a snowbank and hit a tree. The Lapland Safari staffer came and started looking at the snowmobile and clicking photographs , instead of checking me out, if I had got any injury. My co-passenger who was a firefighter, pointed out to her that she needs to attend to me first. But that lady was not deterred in her mission to ensure that the snowmobile is okay. And all that had happened to the snowmobile was that the bumper had shifted slightly off center. And by slightly I do mean slightly. I in the meanwhile had the front shield hit my voice box with force and could hardly squeak out yes or no to my co-passenger asking me if I was hurt in other places, which admittedly were mild aches and pains similar to the slight shift of the bumper. My voice on the other hand returned to normal after 4 days and several painkillers. We got back onto the same snowmobile which was working perfectly fine without any change even in the sounds of the bike , my co-passenger doing the driving now, and carried on the same snow mobile for the rest of ride. I was not worried as to any damage claim as everything looked fine. To my surprise, at the office they made a demand of 730 euros and just would not relent. The bumper change cost was being shown as 170 euros approx. But they were charging me almost 600 more on the chance that there may be a crack on the chassis. I requested that they could charge me if it was actually the case. I was there for 3 days, they could get it opened and evaluated. But no. Its easier to extort from the customer who doesn't want to spoil everybody else's holiday and wants to move onto their next activity. My surmise from this experience is that the reason why they don't hand out the insurance pamphlets at the office (and only fleetingly tell you about it, is when you have mounted the bike at the start point of activity and raring to go) is because its easier to collect cash upfront from the customer rather than chase the insurance company for the money. Because the insurance company is going to ensure that their claim is valid. So guys beware, if you choose to go with Lapland Safaris, based on the other reviews, they maybe good with their organisation, but they roll out customers like a factory and without absolutely any empathy or worrying about the customers financial stress. So we had a spoiler at the start of our holiday due lack of ethics on the part of Lapland Safaris.

Dear Madam/Sir, how unfortunate that you faced an accident in the beginning of your stay in Rovaniemi! We hope, that despite the incident you still enjoyed your time in Lapland. As you mentioned, the maximum self liability of a snowmobile is 980€, but it can be reduced to max. 150€ by purchasing the self liability waiver before the safari. The waiver can be purchased on our website upon making the reservation as well as at our office, where we also have posters and leaflets about it. We also offer travel agencies the possibility to buy waivers in advance for their clients. In order to further improve our service in the future, we are thankful for your feedback and have forwarded it to our management team as well. I am sorry to hear you felt that the guide did not pay attention to you on the situation. The well-being of guest is always the most important thing in such circumstances. Should an accident happen on our safari, we follow a certain procedure and check if the guest wishes to visit a hospital, for instance. Safety is the number one priority to us. After a snowmobile accident, we must always carefully check and repair the damages on a snowmobile to ensure, that all the snowmobiles are safe for our guests to use. While the first hand check is done by the guide on spot, the snowmobiles are always also checked by the staff, who are responsible for the maintenance of the snowmobiles. As sometimes the damage does not show on the surface, the machines must be checked thoroughly and damages be repaired. If you wish to discuss the case further, you are welcome to e-mail us at info@laplandsafaris.fi with your personal details. We wish you all the best and hope to hear from you, if you have any further comments or questions. With best regards, Hanna / Lapland Safaris Rovaniemi team

I was travelling alone with 3 children (16.12.6 years) and all of them enjoyed! On the 3 safaris we booked , this one was their favorite! Snowmobile on marvellous white landscape, sensation guaranteed for my 16 years old boy :musher of the day. Next time i will book for a longer trip on huskies sledge. Younger children enjoyed cuddling the dogs! Special thanks to our guides : mikko and alessandro (you might have been from finland in a former life !). All the staff were so nice, taking care of everybody and answering questions. Highly recomend lapland safari

We went on this tour today - four of us, including two teenagers. It was really well organised, and they knew what everyone had booked for (so our teenagers got to ride the snowmobiles with us rather than in the children's trailer). The snowmobiles were great fun, with good supervision to make sure we were all OK. Loved the reindeer farm, with a fabulous story teller. Had a hilarious reindeer sleigh ride, where our reindeer caught up with the one in front and looked ready to try and overtake. It all ran to time with very patient and cheery guides. Good food and drink stops too. Highly recommended!
