Brilliant scultures, well worth a visit
Made the trip ourselves, taxi frm lodge to SnowVillage was about 60Euros, entry was about 60 euros for 2adults & 2kids. Well worth a visit, spent about 2.5hrs there and will def go again next year. Kids (11yr old twins) loved it as much as we did.

Beautiful art made of snow and ice. Northern mythology.
Amazing place created out of snow and ice. The theme this year is extremely great. Beautiful art! Northern mythology. We visited end of January 2024. We had a blast at the ice slide and in the beautiful bar. Drinks out of ice glasses. I loved all the gorgeous rooms. Especially the one with the polar bear, the brown bear and the beautiful Northern godess.

    nice for a day visit
We visited the place as day guests and liked the artfully designed snow rooms. Snow Village is worth a visit during the day (1-2hours is enough), but I wouldn’t spend the night there. For an extraordinary experience with an overnight stay in an ice hotel, I strongly recommend the icehotel in Kiruna, Sweden.

So after a year of waiting it was finally our turn for the TUI search for Santa day trip to the snow village on Sunday.. here are my thoughts and tips 🤩 took my 10 year old son on my own and it was super easy to get around and all well organised…🇫🇮🎄🎅

Very long day and early start, we booked an airport hotel the night before and checked in online, this meant we got to the airport about 2 hrs before which was plenty as no luggage.…

The flight out with TUI was fun and full on 😂 the staff were dressed up, lots of Christmas games and music plus snacks and food 👍🏻

Arrived and straight to get our suits from the warehouse (had our own boots and glad we did!) very well organised and were one of the first out… lots of helpful elves about to help with anything 😂

Waited on the bus for about 40 mins which was a shame as we waited for one family to get sorted 🙄 so that was time lost…

About a 25 min drive to the resort, given times for lunch and Santa then off to explore ourselves….

Loved it all, unfortunately couldn’t do the snow mobiles as my 10 year old was a few cm too small 🙄 this was a real shame as it was the longest taster session and given no option to have a sleigh behind… loved the huskies (very short about 30 seconds) lots of other activities to do such as sledging, football in the snow, snow ball fights etc! The sleigh ride to see Santa was just magical in the dark through the forests and we were impressed with Santa and the cabin too! 🎅

Tips… it was minus 22!! Take spare of everything, I thought I’d packed too much but we got through it all as it snowed the entire time so all hats, scarves, etc got very wet quickly! Didn’t use the hand warmers id packed…my hair froze, lashes and brows 😂 plus iceicles form every time you breath in your nose! I wore glasses which also constantly steamed up 🤷🏻‍♀️🙈 we wore base thermals plus jumper and fleece, leggings and joggers and suits and just warm enough in those temperatures ❄️🥶 no chance of the lights unfortunately as snowing, however managed to capture a glimpse in one of my pics still! 🤩

Flight home seemed very long as we were very tired (you feel like you’ve been blasted by the cold weather!) 😂 but got home ok and back in bed in the UK by 1am ish…

Overall a magical day, did everything we wanted and what an experience…could not fault TUI and we got a really good deal booking a year in advance, would do it all over again if I could! 🤩

We visited Snow Village on our drive from Kittilä airport to Ylläs, and it was definitely worth the it. The art is incredible, I never realised it's possible to to all this with snow and some well placed lights. The site was also much larger than we expected. Well worth the 18€ and the time!

We did a Tuesday to Sunday trip warlt December 2024 with 2 boys from Gatwick. Flight had no Xmas spirit. Long wait for bags at airport. Arrived at hotel and lack of communication on how to get to our chalet and no signage. We had bad luck with the weather as not enough snow for huskies, over cast so not able to see northern lights, ski toboggan not working as windy. Day trip to Santa felt rushed and we queued for 1 hour of the 2.5 hour visit there, this left no time to do all the activities plus our coach was 30 minutes late getting there. Hotel pool cost us 45 euro for a swim and should have really been included given our holiday cost us £5.5k. Bus to local lake was 37 euro, everything is very pricey. Overall kids had an ok ish time but would have got a much better holiday elsewhere, TUi were not very helpful and their app was pretty poor.

We visited the snow castle during our stay at Ylläs. It’s only 30 minutes drive. Got to admit that we were a bit sceptical on the quality and level of the handcraft to expect - but the castle really blew our minds off! What a spectacular piece of art and master piece of talented handcraft it is ❤️
Beyond everything the castle is built only in four weeks by around 30 professionals. Hats off.
It’s been a challenging year for the travel business and I can imagine that not building the castle has been an option too to balance the finance. I’m happy they still did it 💪🏽

Absolutely a place worth visiting.

Ps. There’s an ice slide open for grown-ups and an ice bar too 😅

I’ve visited a few times now, the most recent being in January this year. Different themes every year and the art and sculpture work never fails to amaze me! The rooms are incredible, absolutely love the place. The ice bar is very cool but this year found it to be very small (maybe covid related), nevertheless I didn’t miss out on an ice shot! I definitely recommend paying this place a visit if you’re in Lapland over winter.

Facts you must be aware of before you book!! Actual time at snow village 3 1/2 hours!
Husky ride lasts 3 minutes!
Reindeer ride last 5 minutes!
Only 1 ride of each strictly no second shots!!
Packet biscuits and huge tubes of icing which were too hard to use for decorating!!
Sleigh ride through the woods to Santa truly fabulous !! Santa in a hut no fairy lights not magical and I had to prompt him to strike up conversation with my 7 year old grandson who is not shy at all!!
£3 soft toy elf as a gift!!
Snow village sculptures are amazing but you can walk through that in 15 minutes!!
Food average - buffet style but plentiful!!
It was a surprise for my grandson and he really did love it!! The scenery was magical and we did have lots of fun!! However it is completely overrated and definitely not worth the money!! We’ve been to Xmas venues in UK which far exceed the effort here!! Honestly it’s a rip off!!!! 6/10 at a push!!

Business trip with guided tour of the ice hotel of approximately 30 minutes, followed by lunch in the very unusual and excellent ice restaurant. We were surprised by the quality of the ice sculptures and the uniqueness of each room. Absolutely worth visiting once in your life!

We stayed here one night, check in is not whilst 22.00 but you get tour of hotel. You are allocated sleeping bags and pillow. Rooms have no doors and you have to walk to toilet's. You do not take anything in with you and any cloths are placed in the sleeping bag with you, shoes are on their side or upside down.
The rooms are very light, and the mattress not very comfy, thee is a warm room you can go to away from hotel.
The ice bar stops serving at 8pm like everywhere in Finland so due to check in times we missed this.
It is a very strange experience to say the least, the temp is between 0c and -5.
It was one of the bucket list ticked but wouldn't try it again.
