Manage expectations before you go
Feb 2021
A lot of the information online about the snowcastle is misleading. If you go to see the actual outside snowcastle make sure that they have built it before you go. Online they have opening dates for the castle, but you can turn up and find it is not built yet. I went at the start of 2021 after the online opening date, but it turned out they have not built one this year, and they only changed the website to say this much later. Best to ring and ask before you go. All year round there is a sort of cold room that you can go into but it is very expensive (17 Euros) and in Finland in winter you don't need a cold room!

Disappointed
Jul 2020 • Couples
As others have said, this place is very small. In the cold room, there is a bar area, when we were there, there was no one serving in the bar though. There were possibly a dozen ice statues, a throne, and a long slide. That was it, it probably took us longer to get our thermals on than to visit inside.
The cafe was closed due to post-covid restrictions, we were directed upstairs for "brunch" in the restaurant (we were the only ones there). We had a single plate from the buffet table. 46 euro!!! There was nothing to indicate prices, or similar that we seen.
There were discounts to be had though, we were talking to a Norwegian who bartered his cabin down to 130 euro, because it was so quiet.

Small
Mar 2020 • Couples
The snow castle was almost the only reason to go to Kemi, unfortunately it was really small. The idea is still cool but i think than they should do better.
Nevertheless the art inside is wonderful, a lot of details. It is a really artist work.

I was a bit disappointing ad the snow castle.
this year it did not look like a castle but more like a giant igloo.
the rooms are very nice but its a 15min visit at the most
planned on spending much more time there and there is really nothing to do

A dream castle, carved in snow and ice. And everything so ephemeral!
There is also a huge refrigerator that keeps a part of the complex frozen even in summer .

A little dissappointment
Feb 2020 • Family
We visited here on our way to Lapland. Our plan was just yo adore the castle from outside. Well unfortunately there wasn't much to adore. The weather hasn't been good this year so the castle was very plain. If it had the towers ot would have been awesome. Before you go you should check what kind of weather conditions have been so you know what to expect.

It is a big ice freezer
Jan 2020 • Friends
There was no castle but a big ice freezer. Looks great for the first experience. There is a slide and few ice sculpture for pictures. A big ice throne to sit and get clicked. We were in a big group, the vegetarian food was horrible and I don't recommend this place for food or experience if you have plans to visit ice hotel in Rovaniemi

Terrible
Dec 2019 • Couples
The snow castle has not been built yet(end of December 2019) - something they forgot to tell you when you buy your tickets. 29 euros for a visit into a big fridge freezer with a few ice figures. Absolutely garbage and waste of money!

Expensive Experience 365
Dec 2019 • Family
Snow castle is not yet ready during our time of visit, so we paid 29EURO for a family ticket to visit their new EXPERIENCE 365. As advertise, there is an ice slide where you can play unlimited times, plus ice restaurant, and few ice sculpture...thats it...So, you can expect to EXPERIENCE 365 in just 360 Degree of view upon you enter the "big freezer container"..This is absolutely not worth to spend your time&money, you may just find any public parks with slope and bring your own snow sled. I'm sure you&your child will be more enjoy to play freely in an open air & natural environment rather than a "big freezer container" purposely built for tourist!
