Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A bit touristy but if you are in the area or planning to do a icebreaker trip then it is a good distraction time filler. The ice slide is worth a go but the rest a bit boring

2023: This has not been built for several years; the replacement SnowCastle 365 is in a warehouse-type building and consists of a single room kept cold enough to keep several ice sculptures and a slide frozen. Not worth the admission fee of 10 euros!

We had entry to the snow castle experience included with our Sampo Ice Breaker ticket, and also our Seaside Glass Villas stay, so we decided we would visit.
The castle itself appeared to be mid-construction.
There is a small inside room with ice sculptures and activities. It was quite fun, particularly the ice slide, but we visited around the same time a tour bus had just arrived, so it was far too busy and we left as people kept barging into us, which was not pleasant.
There is also an outside area, which we had more fun visiting. This consisted of a maze, some steppingstones/beams, a curling rink and tobogganing rings.

Build the freaking castle!
We drove 4 hours to visit the snowcastle only to be terribly dissapointed..
The expercience inside sucks. Its a slide with few statues and a empty bar and table with chairs in a hangar.. not even in a real snowbuilding or castle or with personal to give u drinks by the bar.. Outside there is a sad beginning of the making of the castle. All the photos u see online are so misleading!
Within 10 minutes u have seen everything.
It's not worth the drive or the 10 euros. U better can visit snowvillage near Yllas its so much better!

When we went the snow castle wasn’t built and the cafe was also Not open. To visit the cold room with the 10-12 statues and the slide it was 10 euros but the slide was very good and super fast. We still enjoyed our visit there even if we were in the exhibition for probably not longer than 15minutes

A lot of the information online about the snowcastle is misleading. If you go to see the actual outside snowcastle make sure that they have built it before you go. Online they have opening dates for the castle, but you can turn up and find it is not built yet. I went at the start of 2021 after the online opening date, but it turned out they have not built one this year, and they only changed the website to say this much later. Best to ring and ask before you go. All year round there is a sort of cold room that you can go into but it is very expensive (17 Euros) and in Finland in winter you don't need a cold room!

As others have said, this place is very small. In the cold room, there is a bar area, when we were there, there was no one serving in the bar though. There were possibly a dozen ice statues, a throne, and a long slide. That was it, it probably took us longer to get our thermals on than to visit inside.
The cafe was closed due to post-covid restrictions, we were directed upstairs for "brunch" in the restaurant (we were the only ones there). We had a single plate from the buffet table. 46 euro!!! There was nothing to indicate prices, or similar that we seen.
There were discounts to be had though, we were talking to a Norwegian who bartered his cabin down to 130 euro, because it was so quiet.

The snow castle was almost the only reason to go to Kemi, unfortunately it was really small. The idea is still cool but i think than they should do better.
Nevertheless the art inside is wonderful, a lot of details. It is a really artist work.

I was a bit disappointing ad the snow castle.
this year it did not look like a castle but more like a giant igloo.
the rooms are very nice but its a 15min visit at the most
planned on spending much more time there and there is really nothing to do

A dream castle, carved in snow and ice. And everything so ephemeral!
There is also a huge refrigerator that keeps a part of the complex frozen even in summer .

Patricia, entrance is like any museum or activity center. Turn up, by a ticket at the door and gain entrance. There is a cafe for refreshments. Regards, david

Matkustusaika kotoa on monta tuntia, joten ihan pienen nähtävyyden takia ei kannata lähteä täältä asti ajamaan.
Have you seen the snow castle 2019? How much time did you spend there? I am living far away and wondering if its worth to drive many hours for the castle?

grazie.
