Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our tour company had booked a four hour husky experience for us with Kamisak Husky and Horse. We were kitted out with very warm gear, including the deerstalker hats, and headed out to meet the huskies. These are gorgeous, friendly dogs and were so excited to be off, being quite vocal about it! The instructions for driving the sledge are quite straight forward - basically you are responsible for slowing down, stopping and leaning and the dogs do the rest. We were able to choose our teams from those set up and bond with them before we set off. Both 12 and 13 year old children were also able to take a turn at driving the sleds which was a lovely bonus but I suspect you do have to be a certain height or weight, simply to be able to slow the dogs down. That moment when the guide untied the ropes to let the dogs go was so exhilarating!
We were two families who had then been put together with another large group - at least 12 sleds. This was not a problem for us as we were together near the front but I might not have been so happy if I was at the back! Apparently it was quite warm for the huskies at -1 degree and they rolled in the snow at any given opportunity. Lunch was served in the teepee, fish soup, bread, warm juice, coffee and biscuits. I have to say at this point that some of the other guests seemed to have forgotten 'please' and 'thank you' in any language which was a real shame. Also, the toilet nearby is an emergency compost one, but you could always scoot back to the stables' indoor loo if needed.
It was lovely to have the opportunity to take the dogs out for a second run after lunch. A big 'thank you' to Sanna who took care of us and shared some of her liquorice sweets.

We booked the 4 hour Husky tour out of Ivalo hence the husky farm has been moved 40 km up to north. Communication / information on this can be improved. Our guides Martin and Marek explained the way of working with the huskies and the rotation of the dogs for a ride. It was the first ride of the day and the dogs were full of energy. Happy we got warm thermal clothes and shoes from Kamisak with min 20 degrees. The husky ride was awesome! It is good to be a little sporty .After that a warm lunch was served in the tipi and we visited the husky puppies!

We booked a 2 hours husky tour and it was just amazing.
The chance to explore this beautiful nature by getting pulled by huskies is unique.
Everything was perfectly organized and warm clothes were provided.
Our two guides were very friendly and they know a lot about huskies and their sport.
A must do when visiting Saariselkä!

It seems like the company is no longer running (or at least is not working for the time being).

I booked one of the horse riding service a week in advance and got a confirmation email so I thought that was the regular booking procedure. Then, the day before the actual riding, I double checked and realise that no one was picking up the phone or replying to other emails apart from the automatic booking ones. At that point it was too late to book anything with another company in the same area and the trip was ruined.

We stayed at a hotel nearby and only when we insisted on asking specific information about Kamisak, they finally told us that the owners live in a different region and that they don't think they provide any service at the moment.

They should clearly state on their website their current unavailability because otherwise it seems like a scam.

After we made a reservation through the internet for the next day. No response.
So we decided to drop by and make a personal reservation. After 15 minutes waiting near the empty office a youngster came to look for us. He wrote our telephone number down. We urged him to let us know if a dogride the next day was possible. He could not promise anything but the boss would call us and tell.
No response at all. Not the same day. Not the next day. Never.

We booked this highly overpriced 4-hrs tour through our hotel. The promised pick-up (a local taxi) was at the reception at time, however, the cab driver got the wrong guidance and had no idea where to go. At the end we were sitting in the cab for 90 minutes before arriving at the spot.

The tour itself was very short (for a four-hrs-tour). We were effectively ON the go for less than ONE hour. As we were too late due to the wrong directions the tour started later. The guide then extended the break (!) around the fire place and we returned quite early. The "lunch" was so bad, even the guides said they didn't like the soup, nore the coffee or tea. And on top of that they couldn't answer any (!) specific questions on huskys. Afterall that was a very bad experience. I think there is other companies which might suit better! Our reception however underlined that - normally - they have no trouble with that company. Also the feedback here is quite positive. Still: This company - from our point of view - is no good!!!

We visited Kakslauttanten during Christmas with our two sons, ages 12 and 14. It was extremely cold. During the evening tour, it was -30 C (-22 F). We were dressed in multiple layers but followed the advice of the guides and put provided snowsuits on over all that. It was good advice! We also brought heat packs for our boots and gloves, but there was simply no way to keep our fingertips and toes warm. Our ride was delayed by about 20-30 minutes, as the guide was having some trouble with the dogs. As we stood, we just got colder.

The difficulty of mushing your team of dogs is dependent on just how fast the dogs are that you get. We had one extremely fast team that required my husband’s full weight to brake. The other team was much slower and manageable. We were going to give our sons a chance to drive, but 20 minutes into the ride, they lost all feeling in their feet. (They’d been sitting in the sled.) You really need to feel your feet on the sled rails.

Halfway through our two-hour ride, we asked to turn around. The kids were in pain because of the cold. We were fortunate that the tour was just us, and we could do this. I’m not sure what we would have done if we’d been with others.

Bottom line: the dogsledding is fun, but only do it if you can schedule it during daylight hours (11am-3pm). Once the sun goes down, it’s miserably cold, no matter what you’re doing.

Terrible!

For our long dreamth bucket list come true, I made a booking from the web site for a overnight husky expedition. Asumming it was comfirmed I bought our flight to ivalo. After emailing them and not recieving a reply, ı called the company several times finally a lady told somebody will contact me. I lost several days waiting for a confirmed date. Nobody called or replied to any of my emails. I had to spent my holiday in ivalo instead of a diferent destination where i could have taken this tour.
Deffinately not a proffesional company at all.

You shouldnt ruin peoples plans or dreams.

Thank you

Let me just say this: If you come to Lapland, don’t leave here until you take a Husky Safari. The longer overnight tours are worth their weight in gold. A must do!
