Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Marshal of Finland Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim (1867-1951) was a very important person in Mikkeli. He had his headquarters in Mikkeli in all the wars of independent Finland: the War of Independence, the Winter and Continuation Wars.

This striking bronze sculpture by sculptor Kalervo Kallio was unveiled on the 100th anniversary of Mannerheim's birth on June 4, 1967. Since 2003, the statue has been standing next to Mikkeli Market Square.

The former commander - in - chief of Army of Finland, C.G.E Mannerheim, stands proudly in the market square of Mikkeli.

He was our war leader during the World War II.

You don't have to look for his statue. Just go to market square ( worth of visiting, by the way ), and you can't miss it.

It's just a statue of Mannerheim, nothing special. It's in the market place which has a lot of shops nearby.

This fine statue is honour to the Great Finnish Marshall Mannerheim. The headquarter during the 1939-1944 wars was placed in Mikkeli - an excellent logistics base. The artist of the statue is Kalervo Kallio, the son of president Kallio. Marshall is presented as walking like going to have a lunch with the generals and his right-hand man Airo. A neighbouring shopping center is named after him.

The statue of Carl Gustav Mannerheim stood many years apart from the center. Some years ago it was moved to Mikkeli market square, and now it's a part of view at the town center. The man may divide opinions, but his mark to the finnish history is remarkable.

This statue of Marshal Mannerheim was for political reasons first erected on an isolated area in 1967. The left wing was in power then and did not want him to the market square where it originally was planned to be by the sculptor. 25 years later the statue was removed to the intended site where it is now.

A good point to star exporing Mikkeli is the main square where the memorial of the Headquarters is situated. Presentig the Field Marshall Mannerheim the status honors the Mikkeli's role as a Headquarters city of both the war of independence 1917-1918 and the second world war 1939-1945.
