Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is fantastic for us born in the 1960s who still remember these views from their homes or grandparents'. The changing expo was about local football clubs (or soccer clubs as our friends in the US of A says it) and it was great! The best experience was with artist Matti Mattsson at his art work room: he was there in person to talk about his past, current and future projects. He uses recycled materials in his art work. Very inspiring!

It was interesting to wander around in different houses and rooms from old days of Kuopio. It is nice that they preserved the old houses. In many towns they have been destroyed long ago. It was so much to see, that time run out to early. Old Kuopio Museum consists of a block of eleven old wooden houses. The oldest buildings on the block are from the late 1700s and the youngest from the late 1800s. Their interiors represent living conditions and living styles of different families from the 1800s to the 1930s. In addition, there is a pharmacy house, an exhibition hall and a room dedicated to the renowned local author Minna Canth. Kuopio was almost completely a wooden house city until the mid-1900s. The city never had to face widespread fires that destroyed many similar cities in Finland and even bomb strikes during war times didn’t demolish much of Kuopio.

This museum consists of eleven old wooden houses in the neighborhood of the oldest urban settlement in Kuopio.

The buildings are from the late 1700s to the late 1800s. The interiors show how people in Kuopio used to live.

There is also a pharmacy museum and a room dedicated to the renowned local author Minna Canth.

On our visit, there was a temporary exhibition 'Minna Canth's Kuopio'. This exhibit contained objects belonging to the author and his family.

Very nice to see how people in this area of Finland used to life.
There is enough English explanation. The map of all the buildings has an English insert. And in every room there are folders with English explanation about the items etc.
Worth the vist.
Nice to see that the staff walks around in authentic clothing.
The only thong not being explained was the exhibition area.

This block in the town is a very nice and attractive surrounding for just a coffee break or a deeper look in the old wooden houses showing how people use to live in old days.
Best season of course in summer season when also the courtyard is open for a coffee break. Open also on Christmas and some other special occasions during off-season with nice seasonal d

Old Kuopio Museum or the Quarter Museum of Kuopio (Kuopion korttelimuseo) consists of eleven wooden houses. Oldest buildings are from the late 1700's. You may walk in old workers' houses, middle class houses, storehouses and an old pharmacy which has a beautiful mansard roof. The writing room of Minna Canth (1844-1897), the famous Finnish writer and social activist (especially women's rights), was very interesting, too. Even our teens loved this place!

We enjoyed the old houses, old professions... Fun quiz for kids (Finnish one better for older kids, picture hunt for smaller ones).
To our disappointment, the café there no longer works. There is a smith's instead (closed while we were there).
