For almost 800 years people have been coming to worship and pray at Linköping Cathedral. Work on the Cathedral was started in 1230, with the main building works being completed in 1520. The belfry and the west façade were added in 1885. Linköping Cathedral is the most impressive and expensive Swedish church building of the Middle Ages. Within the church you can see evidence of almost 800 years in which master craftsmen have expressed their faith in wood and stone

I went on a Sunday so the gift shop wasn't open. I went through the church prior to service and I was in awe. I don't speak the language and yet the service was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen!

From what i've heard it is the second biggest cathedral in Sweden. It is well kept. It still has the air of old ages in it. But you can also see some changes that come with the modern era. It is a peacefull place. What...More

Whenever we visit a new city and have time to explore, the cathedral is always on our list for the architecture (neither of us are religious). Linköping's cathedral stands tall above most buildings and is easy to find in the city centre. The grounds surrounding...More

I had never been to a cathedral when I walked into the Linkoping cathedral, so obviously I cannot give a comparative opinion. But what I can say is that I found it beautiful and interesting. The ceilings tower above you, and there is a lot...More

Being one of Sweden's largest cathedral-like churches, the regional church in Linkoping is a nice visit even though Protestant churches usually are not as decorated and abundant as Catholic ones. Occasional concerts and open ceremonies. Has a small exhibition close to the entrance with some...More
