If you visit Falun you have to go here. Falu Gruva and The Wasamuseum in Stockholm sort of give you the core of the Swedish struggle to make a mark in European history and move the country from low tech misery to high tech hardship...More

Seeing this huge open pit mine and the shafts to underground mine tunnels is amazing. If you are interested in mining or Swedish history, plan to visit Falu Gruva.

There is lots to see and do in the museum. Tour in the mine is excellent. You can take a tour above the ground and under the ground or both. Nice surrounding to take a walk. Cosy stay at the Bagarstugan. Nice shop

Is there a place to stay in Fau Gruva?

Falun isn't very big. You can get there from almost anywhere in 20 minutes. If you take a hostel, Kopparstugans Bed & Breakfast seems closest. Falu Fängelse - an old jail- is for more adventurous visitors.
