This is a great place to have a panoramic view (or to see the fireworks) over the last bit of Lake Mälaren, the islands of Kungsholmen (on the right), Södermalm-Långholmen (on the left) and Riddarholmen (front). Best light: afternoon and sunset. The bridge itself is an interesting engineering structure from 1936 with a double arch, an alternative connection north-south. On... More

We arrived in Stockholm on June 6th (National Day in Sweden) aboard the Queen Elizabeth. The shuttle bus from the ship dropped us off right next to this bridge. It was such a glorious day - weather just perfect. This bridge is over Västerbron (The Western Bridge). Built in 1935, this 1900+ foot long bridge connects the islands of Södermalm... More

As you walk up this bridge struck quickly by the incredibly beautiful view of almost the entire Stockholm ... here you can see how vast this city yet and that it is also a distinct archipelago town! The bridge is a steel arch construction and built during the 30th century. There are, as with so many changes the famous Buildings... More

Take a walk or ride across this bridge for amazing views of the city. Once you reach half way there are hundreds of padlocks where lovers have written their names and locked them to the wire safety rail.

Best time to walk across is at sunset. You will have a most amazing view of Stockholm. If you are not in the mood for walking take the regular bus.
