A pleasant short walk down from the city centre and the water front promenade takes you to the bridge for Djurgarden Island. It's a nice long walk around the green space with dedicated paths, not too many cars, apart from on the Vasa museum side. Great backdrop of the city, nice little inlets to cycle or walk to. If the... We walked by and barely through, because of limited time, but the park is beautiful and easy to reach. Very near the Vasa Museum.

I have only been on walking tours on Djurgården and it is amazing even this time of year. If you start with that you can always go to the Vasa, Cirkus, ABBA or Oaxen. No shortage of entertainment.

When in Stockholm you access Djurgarden island by ferry boat. Range of attractions is very wide for all ages and children will be happy here. For children the Junibackken fairy-tale pavilion, for music the Abba Museum, for the daring the heart in mouth rides!!. The Vasa ship museum is a unique experience providing an up close look at the 17th... More

If you spend your first day in Stockholm wandering around the Old Town (as most people do), you should spend your second day exploring Djurgården. Most of the island is a park, though there are also restaurants, museums, and even an amusement park! Definitely make sure to check out the Vasa Museum while you're there: it's one of the neatest... This is a nice park for a stroll and catch up friends/family. Doesn't appear have a great deal going on otherwise - I am specifically referring to the park and not the museums on it.

If you have had a late Saturday night. What do you do on the Sunday morning then? Then take the sub way to Karlaplan or the bus to Djurgårdsbron. From there you chose the walk that you like to do. If you like long walks, take the full tour around the island. That takes a few hours, but it´s worth... More

Djurgarden is vast green park in the center of Stockholm. You can spend a whole day there, with places like Skansen (openair museum), the Vasa (museum) and Grona Lund (amusement park) Its especially beautiful in the summer, to go for walks. There are lovely restaurants and its all surrounded by water!

Neighbourhood Profile
Djurgarden & Djurgardsbrunn
The island of Djurgården and its northern mainland extension, Djurgårdsbrunn, impress with a mix of nature and an abundance of museums, while being located in walking distance to Stockholm’s city center. Djurgården not only invites visitors to take endless walks through a beautiful park landscape without having to leave the city, but also offers an incredible range of entertainment facilities, such as an open air museum which specializes in the Swedish way of life pre-industrialization, the renowned Vasa Museum with its legendary sailing ship, and Sweden’s most famous amusement park Gröna Lund, which is more than a 100 years old.
