The architecture of the building is really nice. If you don't have time to see a play at least see the building from the outside.

‘Fanny and Alexander’ is supposed to be a Christmas story, the same type for The Royal Drama Theatre as ‘The Nutcracker’ is for ballet. A bit forward, I would say, although the setting is indeed a family house with a Christmas tree etc. True, this is not as macabre as most other Ingmar Bergman works, much as it is based... More

Royal Dramatic Theater (Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern) is very nice and impressive building. The decorating statues are gold color so you get the idea of Art Nouvoveau.

....but gaudy. Its not that it is not impressive, but it looks a little out of place. As a theatre sure...but I was not a fan of its design. Much more beautiful and stately buildings in this beautiful town.

This 1908 Theater is a superb example of the Art Nouveau. It was decorated by important Swedish artists like Prince Eugen Waldesmarsudde and launched the careers of notables like Greta Garbo, Ingmar Bergman, Max Von Sydow and Bibi Andersson. The Theatre contains a restaurant and cafe as well.

I couldn't get in the building. Just saw the reception part. But watch out the plays in there. Because they have English subtitles for certain plays (not all of them). If you come across one of them, buy a ticket. (make sure they have English subtitles for that play) Also local people just sit the stairs of theater and watch... More

This extraordinarily gorgeous Art Nouveau theatre by the waterfront can claim the title of the most glamorous building in Stockholm. Dating from the first decade of the 20th century it had the services of renowned Swedish artists like Carl Milles contributing to its ornateness. Interestingly Prins Eugens also devoted his artistic talents to it. With a facade constructed from marble... More

It's definitely a beauty of a building. Great architecture and it's kept up very well. I would have loved to get into it and see inside, but from the outside, you can walk by, or it's on the stop of all the local tour buses.

This building is perhaps Stockholm's finest art nouveau and also the site of the absolutely most classical theater performances, from Shakespeare to Bergman. The house is also very beautiful waterside location and is the gathering place for sun-worshiping urban walkers.
