We were in Stockholm several times, and every time we visited the Old City, the atmosphere was amazing, just worth it

We found it a pleasent walk, although it was a public holiday and good weather so there were a lot more people out and about. Prices in most of the bars was expensive so shop around

The old town is a walking place but with cobble stones and some steep streets care needs to be taken by those less steady on their feet. The sites are exceptional: the changing of the guard at the palace; the Nobel Museum, the parliament building,...More

Nice to walk the streets of old Stockholm. I enjoyed the small family restaurants and art galleries. I rate it as a must see to appreciate Stockholm.

Beautiful place with small streets and bright color houses. We have a good time making small stops for bites in different restaurants. Good food and a lot to see.

Very, very nice part of town. We went with a walking tour and then returned some other times. It is definitely a must-see.

Gamla Stan is the small island that contains the Old Town and is the number one place you must come toon Stockholm. As well as the old streets and shops and restaurants, it is the site of Royal Palace.

Full of not so cheap tourist souvenir shops. Very overpriced and a little tacky. However there is an odd interesting shop. Got a buss about it although I suspect the Swedish people do not often go here! Wonderful museum at the road near the river

This is a great place to visit. There are many interesting nooks and crannies to explore and things of interest. There are also many historical sites to visit in a relatively small area. However, most of your walking will be on cobblestone, so make sure...More

Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home
to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central
island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small
island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous
Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit
touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting:
take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and
through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest)

We'll be staying in the Old Town from a Wednesday to a Saturday in June. We would love to check out Angso national park. What is the best boat trip to get there? Would love to get a nice overview of the area. Thanks!

Gamla stan, the Old town. And there you can try Viking food at Aifur Restaurant, Sweden's first restaurant with focus on the gastronomic heritage from the Viking age.
