It is in fact quite a treat to visit the Old Town of Stockholm. The whole town rests on an island where you will also find the Royal Palace and Storkyrkan. The grand old church just adjacent of the Palace. From the Church you have...More

Nice coffee shops and restaurants are plentiful as are souvenir shops and more upmarket stores. Low on atmosphere. A little disappointing.

Here you will find the original Stockholm (the Old Town) from the middle ages. Walk through cobblestoned small streets, visit churches, museums, small alleys with different local shops, antique stores, great daytime (lunch 11-14) and night time restaurants. Also the Royal castle is located here....More

The city is fairly large and spread out. Bridges over the various waterways everywhere. There are plenty of historic places to visit, museums, eateries and shopping catering for all tastes and likes. Its a long walk around the main attractions so get some good footwear...More

A very walkable area that contains a good collection of local architecture, and lots of little shops selling food and tourist stuff. Take some time to sit in one of the open squares and watch the people go by.

A dozen of us took a city tour arranged by OURWAY Tours. I don't know that you have to pick that one but I do know that you will enjoy the Old Town much more if a knowledgeable person not only shows you around but...More

The mains square of Gamlastan- the old city of Stockholm- lots of history in one place, worth a visit and having a beer or hot chocolate. The Nobel price museum is right there also. Loved the walk, any time and any day.

Stockholm Gamla stan is a sight to see, has places to visit and feels overall very old sweet like all old towns should.

Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home
to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central
island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small
island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous
Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit
touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting:
take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and
through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest)

We'll be staying in the Old Town from a Wednesday to a Saturday in June. We would love to check out Angso national park. What is the best boat trip to get there? Would love to get a nice overview of the area. Thanks!

Gamla stan, the Old town. And there you can try Viking food at Aifur Restaurant, Sweden's first restaurant with focus on the gastronomic heritage from the Viking age.
