This is the most beautiful and best preserved fortress in the island. It is open only during high season, but if you are lucky, the doors are open, and you can still visit the fortress (not the museum). I was there in Midsummer, and though it was closed, I could go inside and climb to the walls. Very interesting!

Children could probably spend a whole day here if they have all the activities going with breadbaking, bow and arrows and more. Pigs run free.

Great interactive place to take a family or group of friends. Very detailed look into Viking life on Oland. Staff all were able to speak in English. Been twice and loved it both times!

Its more like a small fortified hamlet rather than a Fort. Well preserved, but unfortunately we could not get a guide as it was closed due to mid summer festival. But it was interesting to note that this Fort was built around 1150 AD or thereabouts.

Very disappointed - closed in May even weekends - must loose a lot of business - while we were there 4 other cars all pulled in and out again. We went expecting there would be no shows or reenactments or even refreshments in start of the season but not to even get into the site in early summer on a... More

Impressing reconstruction of old fortress with walls and houses within. Very professional and kind guides. We all enjoyed the guided tour, baking bread, forging metal amulets and trying out Viking games. There is a good souvenir shop and they sell sandwiches. We brought our own picnic lunch which was perfect. This is certainly worth almost half a day of visiting.

Eketorp is fort whose first phase was built around 300 A.D. and last phase 1240 A.D. The fort is very old and very interesting. They have restored the fort and rebuilt the walls and the inner structures. There is a nice museum where the text for the displays is available in English. There are activities for children and adults. You... More
