If you like castles and history then it is well worth a visit. Walk around the walls gives good views and it is peaceful too. Had a coffee at Kastro by the entrance. Went by car and there are two ways the easier being from the Sami road. Open 8.30 - 15.00 except closed on Mondays.

Easy drive up to the ruins and well worth it for the views when you get there. Intriguing ruins to wander around with the history and story's they hold. Gates not open every day or all year. (June to September) Treat yourself to a visit to Kastos at the bottom of the walkway for delicious cakes and great friendly hospitality.

This castle (or remains of a castle) provides stunning views of this beautiful island. If you're touring in a hired car it's well worth a visit. Free entry and free car parking nearby is a bonus. A very nice restaurant, il Borgo, nearby serves delicious local food at reasonable prices too.

Stunning views over Kefalonia from up here. The village is peaceful although occasionally the peace disturbed by coach trips, but if you time it right, it's lovely. Nice gift shop here, a lovely restaurant too. In places the stone walkways are a little difficult and pebbles shiny with wear, so not good for people withhold have difficulty climbing and walking.

A must see, the views are just amazing. Park on the outskirts and walk up as the road is usually full of coaches. Make sure you have your camera you will not be disappointed.

Easy the park on the road outside, but watch out for opening days as it is run by part-time volunteers. Sun hats on hot days are essential as it gets very hot up there. The Castle is used as a fire watching tower, so expect beautiful views of the entire island (or nearly!)

Definitely worth a stop to stretch the legs on the way from Argostoli to the mountains. Fantastic views all around. As others have said, you have to bring your own guidebook to find out about the history of the castle. There are two nice restaurants outside.

Lovely castle with great views across the island. Pleasant village at the top with the castle too with a few little family run restaurants and lovely flowers. Nice drive up
