Donegal Coast One Day Self-Guided E-Bike Tour

4 reviews
Cycle the Donegal Coast on an e-bike that makes hills easy, and explore a route with towering cliffs, hidden bays, and beautiful headlands. It’s a self-guided tour, so there’s no fixed schedule and no group to keep pace with. That means plenty of time to stop along the way, explore road-side sights, and snap photos. Turn-by-turn directions ensure simple navigation and a stress-free day.

My family stopped in for a tour of your distillery on one on March 3, 2020. We were passing through on holiday having just had lunch in Killibegs heading to our rental in Glencolumbkille. We'd stopped at Fintra Beach. My daughter who has guided other tours to Ireland from our home, Wisconsin, USA, said seaweed like we saw that day while exploring the beach was gathered and used to make gin at your distillery. I'm a whiskey drinker and home wine maker and wasn't keen on stopping for a tour of a gin distillery. She pressed her dad and we went anyway thank the Lord and daughter Margaret. Our guide was Sean. He was marvelous and was patient with my annoying questions. He gets five stars from this old curmudgeon. Gin making is an unknown science to me, never mind Tanqueray gives me a headache. However, you've distilled in me an affection and taste for your An Dulaman. If ever I get my hands on another bottle, I'll sip to savor the pleasant memory, friendly confines of your distillery, and I'll be walking again on Fintas Beach. Thanks for the most wonderful experience which we enjoyed in time to get home before the current travel ban. Please accept my best wishes for success moving forward with your larger still. Good luck.

Easy to find and directions spot on. We didn't book but came along for the 4pm Saturday tour. Went for a coffee and came back to a tour just for us. The tour was fab a walk round the small distillery, shown plans for a big one at Ardara. We got shown the products and what goes in the fab gin. Then we got to taste the gin and the whisky which is made elsewhere. At the time we went you could not buy the product in the shop so we bought 2 glasses and got the gin and whisky at Cope store in Dungloe. I also got the fab gin glass at the airport. The AN DÚLAMÁN IRISH MARITIME GIN is now my favourite gin but please let me know when and where I can buy the rioja cast gin and bring it to Glasgow soon! Tour was 10 euros each and ample parking. They also have rowanberry and gorse vodka. Much success in the future.

Hi GlasgowWineNut What a great user name! Thanks for coming to see us and doing the tour, we are so glad you enjoyed it and love being your new favourite gin! we have applied for the license to be able to retail bottles so hopefully that wont be too far away. In the meantime Tip Advisor wont let me share the details of retailers that will do mail order for An Dúlamán Santa Ana (the rioja cask armada strength release) in this response and there should be stock in the UK now - but if you DM us on here, or FB, or the web I will get the details to you Look forward to seeing you again Slainte James

Don't listen to the nay-sayers. Stop and visit Sliabh Liag Distillers. No, they are not producing whiskey at this facility. But get ready for the best gin you have ever tasted. I am serious. And I am not the gin drinker in this family, my wife is. We paid ten euros (half the price of the Jameson tour, and their Bow Street shop in Dublin isn't even the distillery.) At Sliabh Liag, we had a great introduction to gin production, and a beautiful introduction to how these folks infuse seaweed into this gin. I'll be honest; I thought the seaweed thing was going to be a gimmick. But I am going to tell you that this gin is off the charts. Sip it cold at the end of an evening. Drink it straight with a beautiful seafood dinner. This gin rivals the best rachi I tasted in Greece, and better than any grappa in Italy, or Palinka in Hungary. It is tasty. Buy a bottle at the pub in town and enjoy. It is not cheap. But it is worth every penny/pence, etc. We had a lovely tour from Marian, and she explained not only how they harvest the seaweed, but gave us some history of the moonshine culture of the past, and the Spanish Armada influence on the bottles, and the new cask process. Buy a bottle, then head to Killybegs, and get fresh seafood from the Seafood Shack on the wharf in Killybegs. Trust me. Tim. Just returned from Donegal and the Wild Atlantic Way August 2019

Hi Tim Thank you so much for coming to see us and for leaving us such a lovely review. Marion does give a lovely tour (though we might be a bit biased) and getting reviews like yours really makes everyones day. We update the neck tags with quotes and reviews and i am pretty sure Moira will want to use yours on the next revision so look out for that. We love Mairead and Gary's seafood shack too, their scampi and squid is to die for and their chowder is just champion, literally. Thanks again, you have quite made our day. James.

Made the effort to visit as it's a bit out of the way. Was worth it. Beautiful scenery on the way and it's a nice little spot. 10 euros for the tour seems reasonable. It is a single still gin set up but you get a good bit of banter and a more detailed run through the botanicals used than you might elsewhere. Will visit again in a couple of years when they get their new distillery built which we were told will also make whiskey.
