Kronborg Castle towers above a very narrow promontory between the coasts of Denmark and Sweden. The renaissance castle stands majestically with its spires, towers, columns, sandstone and copper roofs. Kronborg Castle is a magnificent renaissance castle and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. This year marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. Kronborg Castle is marking this occasion by celebrating Shakespeare's immortal play Hamlet with a cocktail of theatrical adventure, drama and festivities in the magnificent halls of the castle.

If you have few hours to spend while visiting Copenhagen, you have to go to Helsingor to see this place. The castle is amazing – keep in mind that Shakespeare was inspired. It is a lovely experience which isn't expensive. It is only 1 hour away from Copenhagen via Oresundstag train. You can take the ferry to visit Helsingborg in... More

Can't fault this place except that they don't provide a day long enough to see everything. We went in the Denmark summer so it wasn't crowded. Did the tour underneath. Fantastic, the guide was brilliant. Didn't see everything due to having to return to Copenhagen. Would make an amazing day out. The maritime museum wasn't open. It would definitely be... More

This castle (featured in Hamlet) was an absorbing visit which was comfortable even on a wet and windy day and has impressive views both of and from the castle. Not far from Sweden and very easy to take in on a visit to Helsingoer. To see everything there are quite a lot of step but your effort earns you good... More

Splendid, wonderful, frozen in Renaissance time worth every second spent there from the highest towers to the lowest casamtes and to the every corner and every of the numerous rooms. Reserve the whole day and enjoy seeing the guiding tours too.

This is a stunning Castle that is well worth paying to go in. We often avoid buying entry to attractions like this and enjoy the impression from the outside. However, this is one place you must get inside. It is a great opportunity to see an incredible bit of hi stand feel the atmosphere. It is not a stuffy...posh...oil paintings... More

I loved this experience! Helsingør, itself, is a pretty little harbour, despite the ferries, and a lovely little walk. The train from København H to Helsingør couldn't be easier and is free with a Copenhagen card, as is entrance to the castle (you have to show your card at the ticket office and swap it for an entrance ticket, though).... The castle is great, but i think it need more direction for solo traveller like me. I skipped King's chamber at first thinking i will go back later as it's close to the enterance which also exit gate. After seeing Chapel and go up to tower with 145 steps I entered another door which bring me to underground which is... More

This castle was amazing, as it was not only great to visit the place that inspired Shakespeare to write Hamlet, but it had a lot of different exhibits and there was freedom to really explore (including wandering the basement/dungeon area on your own in the dark). It is a really a lovely experience, and only 1 hour away from Copenhagen... More

What can I say? It's a castle. Lots of history and old stuff! We were there just before Xmas, so there were singers, a play and a huge Xmas market. Loved it.

I was staying in accros the water in Sweden and took the ferry ride across (20 minutes, 72sek return) to visit the castle and the old city. You can reach the castle very easily by walk from the ferry/train station (10mins walk), the walk is very pleasant along the sea or through the old city. I took the different tours... More
