I wanted to take a look at how the Danes portray my culture. I was pleasantly surprised. The place offered a look into many different aspects of art from the middle east, also influenced by danish culture. Worth a visit.

The David Collection is a museum with many items, Danish art, European art, and Islamic art. But it's the Islamic collection that really stands out ... the best I've seen (so far) outside of Turkey. That one collection alone is worth a couple hours.

A docent at the Glyptoteket recommended I check out the Islamic Art collection at The David. It did not disappoint! This boutique museum showcases a wide variety of art and artists. So glad I took a recommendation from a local!

So this museum is located in - what I thought it would be - a tiny house in Copenhagen. It was free and althought everything is written in Danish, you're given an iPad to have the information in English. The museum is big and very informative; explanations are clear, it follows a timeline and it's very the collection is really... More

This museum has three parts to its collection. Classic furniture. Classic danish paintings. And then the most impressive ... a very large collection of islamic art including some very old pages of the Quran with some very old Muhammad drawings ... yes they did draw him back then.

The David Collection is a very special museum and well worth a visit. For starters, it's free. It has three main collections - Islamic Art, Danish Modern Art, and 18th & 19th Century European Art, Porcelain and Furniture. Each is impressive, especially the extensive Islamic Art collection. The museum gives English speakers a tablet that contains translations of the labels... More

The museum houses one of the finest collection of Islamic art in Europe (collected by Jewish Suprême Court lawyer David) besides collections of European fine art and Danish 18th and 19th paintings in a fine old building from about 1800. And it is all for free.

I was very impressed. Collection is stunning! Few pieces of knives with handles decorated with rubies are unbelievable. After top two floors containing Islamic art rest of exhibition somehow seams pale. For those who do not have studied art history good news are that exhibit is well covered with explanations, not only about pieces, but on historical background too. Take... More
