This is a dose of history that is truly interesting. Our family thoroughly enjoyed this tour with History Tours, and we highly recommend it to others. Christian Donatzky, the historian tour leader, offers tours both in English and Danish on different aspects of Copenhagen throughout the year. We joined the “Hans Christian Anderson’s Copenhagen” tour given in English when we... More

History Tours is a fantastic way to discover and learn about Copenhagen and Helsingor. I've been on several tours with Christian, and he never fails to amaze with his massive knowledge and his ability to make you look at a familiar place, with a completely different perspective. A must for danes and tourists alike.

Very engaging and informative walk through the city and a great way to learn more about how the city changed with the years and how the times changed the city. The walking tour is highly recommended to anyone (locals or visitors) that have an interest in the city around them.

I can highly recommend this tour, wear sensible shoes (you walk... More

We did the Danish Language tour of the sixteenth century. Christian Donatsky is both a Historian and an exellent storyteller and was all the way through able to connect the buildings and neighbourhoods to Danish and European History in a very entertaining way. You can ask him almost anything, and he'll know the answer - and be able to put... More

Staying in Indre By (Inner City)

Neighbourhood Profile
Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.
