We biked to Chrisianshavn from our hotel near Central station - very accessible by bicycle, and fun to view the city and get to other destinations by bicycle. Easy to park bikes and walk around, easy to ride in the bike lanes.

Once you have seen Nyhavn, take the bridge to Christanshavn and visit Christiana which is a bit of a hippy haven!! Lots of colourful houses and lots of nice places to eat, drink or chill out !!

Lovely walk along the water where you see the old boats and the colourful houses. They have cafes and you can get to Christiana from here. Definitely iconic Copenhagen.

This is a lovely picturesque canalside street to stroll along. Much of the architecture is similar to that of Amsterdam.

Viewed from a canal tour. Lovely residential area on the canal with a variety of house boats, nice & peaceful to walk.

If you've been to Nyhaven, and were impressed with the buildings there, take one of the bridges across the water and take a look round Chritianshavn. As pretty but nit as packed with restaurants etc. A more chilled area to take in the beauty of the architecture

Christianshavn is another lovely place to wander round and just see what you see. It has lots of cool cafes, pretty churches, waterfront walks and...life. It is easy to walk around, but a lot of people choose to cycle...like everywhere else in Copenhagen it is flat and easily accessible...and pretty.

This small town is across the bridge from Nyhavn. We biked around .here after our lunch at Papireen. It's a beautiful town with the colorful houses on the canal similar to Nyhavn, just not as touristy. Near here is Christiana, the "freetown" hippie haven and Church of our Savior. Definitely worth a walk or bike ride through

Thank Lispony

Staying in Christianshavn

Neighbourhood Profile
Just across one of the many bridges from Indre By, you’ll find Christianshavn. An eclectic area with old brick lanes, houses dating back to the 16th century, and canals which are home to many boats and ships, some of which has been turned into restaurants or even serve as fully furnished homes. The best known attraction in Chistianshavn is Christiania, a “free town” of residents who squat on a former military area. However just a stone’s throw away from Christiania, you’ll find some of the most fashionable waterfront apartment buildings in Copenhagen as well as the splendid Royal Opera House.
