Amazing contemporary art museum a few km outside Copenhagen, reachable in about 45 minutes by train/bus. Well worth it. I was there for a breathtaking special exhibit on hyper-realistic statues, but the rest of the collection on display was (mostly) stunning and inventive, too. Interesting building, good cafe (albeit with rather slow service), and a nice bookstore. Great if you... More

Seems like a trek to get the but was easy from norroport - S train e line to ishol station - come out to the front and get on 128 but - these run every 30 mins . Then 5 min bus journey to the Arken. It opens at 10 - get there early to avoid the crowds. Some amazing... More

A short train ride out of Copenhagen and a beautiful walk (or bus ride) from the station in Ishoj takes you to the museum. It is full of interesting and wonderful works of art that fully justify the trip. We were inspired and happy to have visited!

All depends of course on the exhibition -what kind of modern art, You will meet. But have been there a dozen times, and it is always interesting. From a distance the museum looks like a ship stranded on the beach, and indeed You pass a few bridges to get to the museum, which is situated on the beach. Last time... More

The permanent art collection is not that great, but the temporary exhibitions can be really good. The building is nice, but it's in the middle of nowhere, quite a long trip from the city centre.

A visit to the Arken is worth it just for the architecture alone. The sea views, especially from the cafe are the stuff we believe every Scandinavian home has (they don't). The staff was mostly friendly (I was told to carry my purse in front of me so I didn't "bump" any art - as if!) Much of the permanent... More

A very good art collection of modern art with some remarkable works of Damien Hirst and Olafur Eliasson. At the cafe you can get a decent Danish lunch focused on healthy life-style and very tasty at the same time!

Arken Museum is situated out of town on a short train ride from the centre. If you have the Copenhagen card the transportation is free. When you get off the train you have to wait for a bus to take you to the museum. The bus goes every 30 minutes. I spend a great rainy day in Arken. There are... More

We saw the Gerda Wegener Exhibition Right around the time "the Danish Girl" came to the cinemas and it was really lovely done. It was nice to get a chance to see what Gerda created, especially before her husband turned to Lilli Elbe. The permanent exhibition didn't really appeal to our taste but only for the architecture's sake this museum... More

An array of exhibitions beautifully displayed in this large modern museum. Something for all types of art lovers. Saw Damien Hirst for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised. Not packed with tourists, so you can go at your own pace without feeling rushed. Look out for the outdoor exhibits as well. Around a 20-minute walk from the railway... More
