About
The beautiful 400-year-old castle is situated in central Copenhagen's popular park, The King's Garden. The castle was built by one of the most famous Scandinavian kings, Christian IV. Today, the glory of the past can be experienced through the numerous art treasures of the previous kings and queens. Among the main attractions is the Great Hall with the coronation thrones and three life-size silver lions standing guard. The crown jewels and royal regalia sparkle behind the thick walls of the treasury beneath the castle.

Address
Neighbourhood: Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

We didn’t spend long here as we arrived around half an hour before closing. The castle it’s self is just as picturesque from every angle and watching the soldiers do their drills on the grounds behind was very cool.

Small castle with very interesting art and history throughout. Occupied mainly during the hayday of Danish exploration. The throne room on the top floor and the treasury in the basement were the highlights. Also, don't miss the English garden outside.

Really enjoyed the self guided tour here. I didn't know that Denmark had a royal family before visiting Copenhagen so it was a good introduction. Its great to see how they lived and all the artefacts. The gardens are also beautiful for a walk. It is quite close to some other museums as well so handy to walk between each.

The only thing Id love to see improved is that the throne room there is a little side room nodding to the females behind the crown and how important they were as Denmark currently has a reigning queen but yet the room is tiny so kind of has the opposite effect of showing how important the women are.

As well as being an incredibly beautiful building, inside was also stunning! Having the little map for each floor exploring each room and it’s contents was great. Lots of WOW moments

Easily accessible by bus (or a long walk) from central Copenhagen, this museum provides a wonderful glimpse into Danish history, including a look at the crown jewels. Expect to spend 1.5-2.0 hours

Well maintained renaissance castle and gardens. Many rooms to visit on multiple floors containing various artifacts spanning 3 centuries.

Definitely one of the more interesting castles / palaces I have visited.

The free leaflet is excellent, but you can also link to the castle wifi and access a free guide via a QR code.

The timeslot indicated on your ticket is for arrival/entrance only - you can stay at Rosenborg for as long as you like.

They recommend buying your ticket online, we did not, but you can check the website for availability (it indicates the number of tickets still available for the various timeslots) if you are in the area and decide to visit.

We did a long walk from the city center to visit the castle, however where not overly impressed when we got there - maybe easier to enjoy during the summer months

What an experience! The history held within the walls if the castle is incredible. So much to see and absorb. The grounds sounding the castle are also enjoyable for a nice stroll before or after. Tip... buy your tickets online so you can show up and not wait at the kiosk.
