This museum is great. Personally I couldn't give two hoots about HC Andersen but the museum is a great find in Odense. It shows how odd and how tortured HCA was.

My kid was stuck with the audio story telling. Many stuff to read about. Worth a visit. They are in the midst of launching a brand new high tech museum interactive experience in 2020.

The museum is very well done, giving great details of Hans' life and exploits. I had read many of his works as a child, but knew very little about the man. The museum gives great insight into him as a person. His struggles, his accomplishments,...More

The museum is a mix of new buildings, archives and displays built around Andersen's place of birth. The staff were most helpful and informative as the museum was due to close in about an hour or so of our visit. If short for time head...More

This was a dream come true for our 2 and 4 year olds. They loved playing dress up and acting out stories. They ended the day with face painting and creating their own art in the art room. We could have stayed here for hours!

The museum, which includes the supposed birthplace of Andersen, provides a through history of the artist's life and work. Well worth a visit if you are in Odense.

I would highly recommend going to this one instead of the one in Copenhagen. It is in the area of Andersen's childhood home, much more authentic, and has an incredible storyline of his life and works. I was on a tight schedule but could have...More

This museum incorporates the house where HCA was born, with very simple furnishings reconstructed. (His childhood home is nearby, also part of the museum). The main feature of the HCA museum is a thoughtfully arranged chronology of his life in glass cases, with good explanations...More

A visit to the Hans Christian Anderson Museum brought me back to my childhood and delightful memories of reading fairy tales and stories. The museum's exhibitions take you through Anderson’s life from 1805 to 1875 and include some re-creations of his stories like The Princess...More
