This beach is really beautiful to watch but for me and I think for any family with small children is not suitable! The water is freezing and simultaneously the rocky beach is really hot!!!There are only a few threes to sit under their shadow and a small cafe with very little space.I believe the ideal time to go is in the... Hands down one of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches in Chios .The black rocks which are a result of the eruption of the volacano might be difficult for some to walk on but the black rocks and the crystal clear water is what make it so beautiful.

The name "Mavra Volia" means black stones in Greek. The beach is fully covered with small round black stones and has very clear waters. These black pebbles are due to the volcanic eruption that happened there thousand years ago. The beach is very popular in Chios for its unique feeling. It is definitely worth a visit and after a nice... More

A beautiful and delicate beach close to Emporios. Black stones beautifully forms a photographic scene with the lucid sea. A good place for a short swim but we didn't find it comfortable enough to spend more than an hour or so. Be there in good time and it's a feast for the eyes as well as a guaranteed peace of... More

I have been to the Black Pebble Beach as least twenty times and still marvel at its pristine beauty--on the beach and in the water. When you walk into the crystal clear water, you are stepping on black pebbles which are the result of an ancient volcano eruption. Unlike other beaches on the island, you cannot see the bottom, but... More

Very quite and relaxed beach with relatively large black volcanic stone formation. A small kiosk is available for refreshments and snacks.

It's an unorganized beach but there is a small coffe at the end of the beach. There are also good restaurants in the neighborhood bay. Beach is very interesting with black stones which was formed by the volcano which was in the sea. The sea is very clear and nice. I strongly recommend to visit this beach.

Although getting there by car was not very easy, it was really worth it. First one was more "crowded", has shower facilities and a bar, if you walk a little bit further there is a second even more beautiful beach, very long with black pebbles, the sea was here a little more rough but if you can swim no problem....
