The site itself has some lovely mosaics, but the nearby museum makes sense of it all. This prehistoric settlement is one of the most interesting places I have visited from the Ancient Greek and Roman world. Such a richly cultural heritage that was home to...More

The ticket for the museum includes also a visit to the archaeological site and one tomb in the village, but it is important to know that the tomb closes in 2 PM, so if one wants to see it has to come earlier. We didn't...More

Beautiful spot, the birthplace of Alexander the Great. You can walk around the ancient ruins (entrance fee included in the ticket price to the museum) and see the advances that the Macedonian greeks had nearly 2,500 years ago. Although not as awe inspiring as other...More

Big site with lots of mosaic floors. Takes a while to cover the area and some parts are a bit tricky to get to, but well worth walking around.

Around this time of the year, the museum and the archeological site are not busy. Walking around the site (after having visited the museum) gives a great idea of how life must of been here during the kingdom of Alexander the Great.

It's easy to find, right off the highway, and as you drive into town follow the little "museum" signs until you get there. The museum is excellent - one of the best I've seen in terms of layout, scope, information, and artifacts. Definitely go there...More

A bit of a disappointment to visit the site which has been partially excavated with many buildings uncovered as well as some fantastic mosaic floors. The originals are in the local museum which is great.

Not much to see really at the site itself, ruins but some mosaic, some columns, and you get the feel of the layout, of the town as it was. Much much more interesting is the museum with all they found at the digs, the artefacts,...More
