About
This remote beach is located on the south-western coast of Lefkada and requires a considerable effort to reach—from the parking lot, visitors must hike a steep path and then descend over 300 steps to reach the beach. There is a snack bar with toilet facilities at the top of the steps and a handful of sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent. It’s far easier to get to the beach by boat, but you do miss out on the spectacular views from the top. Whichever way you choose to arrive, you’ll find one of the world’s most pristine and unspoiled beaches, its remoteness offering peacefulness and tranquility. – Tripadvisor

The positive thing about this beach is the visual backdrop. Really beautiful, just like on TV or in pictures.
We were here on August 9th, 2023 and I can't confirm the statements about the overcrowded/overcrowded beach. We arrived relatively late, around 10:30/11:00 a.m. For the high season, there was relatively little going on there, so you didn't feel totally cramped or overrun.
Unfortunately, the water was very, very rough that day, which resulted in a lot of waves. I don't know if that's always the case, but it didn't bother me personally, but it wasn't really for small children or calm swimmers.
Now we come to the negative points, which unfortunately will never let us as a family go there again.
- The way there was still OK, we knew that we would have to walk about 1.3 km from the parking lot (10€) to the beach (15% -25% incline, so more of a decline on the way there). The stairs (I'm guessing around 400-500 steps) that you had to go down along the cliff at the end were really questionable in places.
- The way back was absolute hell. We started the way back at around 5:30 p.m. I would say that I personally consider myself to be athletic and relatively fit. Walking back up the steps and then the incline with all the luggage you have with you is really tough. You really need power and stamina.
If you are heavy or have difficulty walking, are afraid of heights, or have any other problems with long and difficult paths in the heat, you should come here by boat or choose another beautiful beach in Lefkada
My conclusion: great visually, flop on foot!

Although the beach is beautiful it is not worth the hike. The road is closed and you have to pay 8 euro for parking then walk for 20 min. The way down was ok to walk, but the way up absolutely kills you. The stairs themselves (410 of them) were bere able, but walking uphill after that was torture.

To get to Egremni Beach we had to park up in a wooded area (this was about €7 or so), hike a few kilometres (on a road that had a 15% incline) downhill and then tackle 400+ steps that cling to the beach. Walking to the beach (and back to the car) gets the blood pumping but it does mean that Egremni itself is much quieter than some of the other beaches. The sand is bright white and the water crystal clear. The beach is long and very natural - there’s no cafe on the beach itself so it feels wild. We enjoyed the hike and the beach itself - one of the nicest of all those we’ve visited across the Greek islands.

As a beach, we are talking about an excellent beach, with fantastic natural beauty and perfect waters! Spotless and turquoise in color. But it has a difficult access from the moment you leave the car. Fifteen minutes of walking until you reach the artificial staircase 400!!! stairs, which finally give you access after about five minutes to the beach. These twenty minutes in total, naturally become forty on the way back, because quite simply, the whole route is uphill. There is no need for shade, since there are no trees, so it is good to have a beach umbrella with you if you plan to stay for a long time. You will be confronted with UNACCEPTABLE behavior by the company that manages your access to the beach when you arrive by car. You have to pay €5 to leave the car, even when you arrive. You haven't stopped yet, you haven't turned off the engine and they ask you to pay them. Of course, they give you a gift of two waters or soft drinks!!!! And I wonder how the Municipality of Lefkada allows such a thing???!!!
This particular company cannot take full advantage of this beach, which is quite large, and if you do not pay the €5, you cannot access the beach!!!

Gorgeous beach with blue water like you’ve never seen. Don’t underestimate the walk though, it’s a kilometre walk in the hot sun BEFORE the 400 steps scaling the cliff. Not for the feignt-hearted! There is only one little store renting stick-in umbrellas for €8 which were great but went quickly. We got there early and all sunbeds were gone. Absolutely beautiful views though.

Worth the effort, sense of achievement.
Parking at the top is well organised and reasonably priced for the area.
There’s a 1.3km 15% gradient downhill walk to get to the steps which take you down to the beach. Be aware that a large portion of the newly built 400 steps hang off the side of the cliff, and aren’t for the faint hearted or those worried by heights.
The beach itself is beautiful, clean, pebbly, with lots of space and it’s easy to avoid the tour boats which come into the left hand side of the cove.
Would definitely recommend over Porto Katsiki.
I’d visit again, as it is worth the effort but take plenty of water and be prepared for a brutal climb back to the car.

5 adults including a 79 yo grandmother and 4 toddlers visited this beautiful beach.
Parking is 7 euros but then you walk like crazy to get to it and then the stairs.
Amazing view and blue water. As you get to it, you've got sand on the left, rocks on the right, no services on the beach but a small restaurant on top of the stairs.
Also quite deep within 5-7 meters and medium waves.

The route is beautiful, although the road network in general does not help! When you arrive you pay 8 euros for parking and then you walk 1.5 kilometers downhill and go down 400 steps (which you then climb up with difficulty!). It would be good not to carry things, and not to go during lunch hours. On the beach you can rent an umbrella and get water! there are no sunbeds. If it gets windy it has big waves that make the sea unapproachable! The landscape is certainly unique!

As long as you are aware that this is less of a beach day and more of a hike with a turquoise sea halfway through it, you will fall in love with Egremni. Wear comfortable shoes, bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen and a hat, and bring food/towels/water shoes/umbrella. And for the love of all things remote, leave your beach chair, enormous floatie, and seventy year old Yiayia behind for this trip. There is nothing convenient about this adventure. Nothing. Not one tiny, little, solitary thing. Remember that there is a mountain to walk down before you even descend the 400-plus stairs…and that same mountain awaits you (this time uphill and hot!) right after you ascend those same 400 stairs. As we say, though, no pain, no gain…and there is plenty to gain between the dreamy blue waters, the goats scaling the steep cliffs above, the warm sun, and magnificent views. Enjoy!

The beach is very long and not crowded. I recommend access by boat. Acces by car is for fit persons. You leave your car in a parking paying 10 euro. Then you walk down to the beach about 1 km on serpentine road. And lastly you have about 350 stairs.
Going down is easy, but walking up back to the car is hard. The beach is with white pebbles, not sand like you find written online. On the beach there are no toilets and no garbage bins. Just some guys renting sunbeds for 20 euros. You can also rent sun umbrellas. They sell some drinks too. One small beer is 5 euro.
The sunset in the sea is overrated. At least when we were there on 28 August. Although there were no clouds in the sky, the sunset colours were not spectacular.
In conclusion, this highly recommended beach you should visit by boat... There are plenty cruises daily that circle the islands. You don't need to stay all day especially because of the lack of facilities. Happy travels!
