It is a small church in the middle of old town of Corfu. There is a body of saint Spiridon. People in Corfu believe that he protects town. It was interesting visit.

A 17th-century church filled with striking paintings and vivid icons, as well as silver chandeliers suspended from its high ceiling. The dark wood furnishings and subdued lighting give a reverent feel to this Orthodox sanctuary. In a small room behind the iconostasis, resides the ornate silver casket containing the remains if St. Spiridon.

You don't have to be a believer to have a positive experience in this historic Greek Orthodox Church but to have the complete experience, you do have to be willing to deal with a mummified body. The story of St Spyridon is worth exploring and you'll also find a mention in Gerald Durrell's "My family and other animals" which is... More

Corfu Town is a must when you're staying on this island. Regardless of your beliefs, this is a beautiful and restful place to visit. It is simple on the outside but inside it's just wonderful. Just go there to take a little peaceful time.

We visited here twice. Once to take in the beautiful artwork on the ceiling and second to see the body of the patron saint and say a pray for my mum to him. It is simple on the outside but inside it's just wonderful. But this is a working church and there are locals doing prayers and lighting candles and... More
