This active all Cano was the first stop on one of our sunset cruise stops. There was a fee to climb up the volcano and you are required to have water with you as there's no place to buy it and the hike up can be strenuous at times. However the view is amazing and it's really cool to see... More

The walk up to the top of the volcano is not easy and not for everyone but the views from the top are totally worth the walk. You can have 360 degree panoramic views of the volcanic island. You can walk around the crater, you can smell and see sulphur smokes coming out of a few places. The black rocks... More

The walk up to the small vents in the crater is a small bit of exercise, but you are rewarded with 1.) great views of Santorini,2.) a landscape like in a science fiction film. 3.) smelling sulpher straight out of the earth and a chance to build your own stone tower. Lots of boat options from the Old Port. Go... More

This excursion can be bought in any place and hotel in Santorini, as it is very popular. Boats leave from the new harbour and it takes about 20 minutes to travel to the volcano in the middle of the caldera. Then all people disembark and begin to climb up to the summit. It is very hot both in the sun... More

Best views of Santorini and all the surrounding islands at the top, which is a quick easy climb. Active steam vents and geological recording equipment bring home the significance of the area. Biggest down side was how crowded it was despite the isolation. Boat after boat from cruise ships crowd in there all morning and midday. Wear closed toe shoes... More

If you've been to Santorini more then once and are looking for something different to do, an option is to take a boat and visit the other two islands formed when the volcano erupted. To do this we needed to take a small boat from the tender pier. There was plenty of wine, beer, soft drinks and mezes on board... More

The volcano was a really interesting site and as you climb it you also get great views of Santorini. It is a climb to the peak and depending on the time of year can be hot, so you need to be somewhat fit to make the trek, and you need to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. The tour guide we... Many trips available to visit here, hot-springs & thirasia, nice little boat trip around the bay to visit these islands, bit of a trek up hill-side but worth seing, views up top are to die for, also see still creating steam from underground, still active, then visit hot-springs on next island. must do ok.

At almost 73 I thought I would not make the almost mile climb up to the top of the Volcano in the caldera of Thira, Santorini. But what a reward! The view was fantastic! I was winded and very tired, but it was definitely worth it. We got there on a boat that I will review elsewhere. Great trip, fun... More
