We were on a cruise and stopped here. The line wasn't too bad to go up. Took about 15 mins. We were there pretty early though. Very organised once you get past the ticket booth, as there's only one person selling tickets. Just be mindful...More

We didn't have to make a decision to walk, or take Donkey's to the top of the island, as we had an excursion that tendered us to another location and we bused from there to see many spectacular sites throughout the day. I highly recommend...More

We arrived on cruise ship and made sure that we were in the early groups off the boat. This meant 1 hour wait the nite before so that we could get an early number to depart our ship on the transport boats. The line was...More

This is the only option unless you want to walk over 900 steps in the heat with the steps covered in donkey dung. While the cable cars are a great alternative the lineups to return to the cruise ships can be horrendous. We experienced fights...More

Wonderful way to go from the town of Thira to the ocean. Amazing views. Cable cars hold 4-6 adults and is enclosed.

When we were in Santorini, our tour company told us that they would meet us at the top of the Fira Cable Car. It is basically a ski lift that takes passengers up to the top of the cliff and each cable car holds 6...More

The cablecar is the only way up from the port unless you take the donkey path. The cable car is much faster, although I have been told lines can get quite long. The cablecar was pretty fast for us, it was a little shaky but...More

Walked down a path full of donkey faeces which wasn't pleasant at all. Had a donkey traffic jam half way down and had to push past 20 odd donkeys to get through. Got the cable car back up to avoid same path again. If going...More

If you don't want to have to have a extremely difficult trip to the top to Santorini this is your only recourse. At 6 euro a person each way it's well worth the money. And the added benefit is you don't have to negotiate all...More

We are going on our FIRST cruise this coming October-2017. We are trying to understand what happens when you port at Santorini, Greece. We are trying to arrange meeting a private tour guide. They said to meet them at the 'upper cable car station'. Do you just get off the ship and take a cable car or donkey up the hillside? Seems a little vague to us, and what upper cable car station means or what that is?. Are things our there easy to understand and straight forward for tourists? Are there any issues, as well, with only being English speaking? Thank you for any feedback or suggestions.

Take the cable car its not expensive. Its cruel for the donkeys to have to climb up the very steep gradient and would never be tolerated in Uk.

This is my opinion: You don't have to buy tickets in advance, the reason is that even though you get them in advance you have to do the line to board, the best you can do is enjoy the ride not always VIP is necessary... More
