I enjoyed this trip very much. The boat takes about 20 minutes to get from Elounda to Spinalonga, the scenery is beautiful. Our guide was very experienced and had a good knowledge of the island.

To visit the island Spinalonga, I knowed the history of this trip, and I was always feeling uneasy, annoyed, to visit the island, called " island of the condamned people"; in fact, on this island were transported the leprosy sick patients; only in 1957 the last people leave the island; now the island is deserted; Nowtoday it's a nice excursion... This island was a leprosy colony, and was the last closing colony in the 1960's. A short boat trip but then you are met with steps. We did not go up these, having walking difficulties, but had a drink in the cafe instead.

The boat takes 20 minutes to get to the Island, the view is great, the boat a bit crowded. They "forget" to tell you on the boat, that you have to buy a second ticket to visit the Island once you arrive, otherwise you can walk nowhere. So the staff is not very friendly, but the Island itself is well... More

Booked through a small travel agency in hersonisos and paid half the TUI price. The guide incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. Would recommend this visit to anyone. Forget the leper bit - there is so much more history related to this island - all way back to prehistory

We took part in an organised excursion to Spinalonga island while in Crete. The bus collected us from hotel then we had 1 hour boat trip to the island. This was brilliant andd enjoyable. However, on the island we were given a 20min talk by the group leader, which was informative and really good but this meant we only had... More

Went on a package organised by our jet2 rep. It took us to Spinalomga which after reading the book "The Island" it all came to life. Note it is 8 euros to enter. Half price for senior citizens this is not included in the excursion fare. You could spend hours here but the tour operators limit you to one hour... More

We travelled from the people just along from the yellow semi submarine, in Agios Nikolaos the guide tour was brilliant,I didn't get her name, but asked if I could have a photo. very interesting trip, I did read a novel about the Island, but I liked the real story better, we didn't have a bbq.
