We had a great little trip out on the train, very relaxing and really nice to see the interior of the Island and places away from the main tourist areas. Even the stops at small religious buildings the accompanying stories and information about them were interesting even for an anti-theist. Great informal guides, not the usual speedy cattle market umbrella... More

We took a trip to Varhasi, Small and nice village. We paid a price of 17 euros per person, the trip contains 2 stops - one in public church and one in Vrahasi village - there we visited small local museum. The disapointing part was the hour and a half - doing nothing in the village - it was a... More

I did not actually wanted to do this, but my friend insisted saying that it will be fun. Ok you could have a really slow tour and shoot photos, but ...but!!!!The heat was unbearable and the ques (cars) behind it made me felt guilty. Never the less, not my type of amusement. Sorry guys - my opinion

Great afternoon trip, via Plaka, up into the mountains, stop at an old monastery location, windmills and a couple of mountain villages. The guides were very informative and friendly, giving loads of information on the history and also the nature and plants around. The views from the road down the mountain across to Elounda and Spinalonga were amazing. Stop in... More

This is an excellent way to spend a few years. The guides were very informative and interesting. We stopped in Plaka first and then went into the mountains. Plenty of stops for photos and some of the views were amazing. The guides also told us about various mountain herbs. Well worth the money.

We chose the longer trip up into the mountains and were very pleased that we had. Plenty of stops for photos, a very moving visit to a deserted chapel, a close up look at the interior of a Greek windmill and lots of herbs picked from the hillside for us to sniff, as well as carob and prickly pears to... We went on the recommendation of another guest in our hotel and had a great time. The guides took us through plaka and on up the mountain. The views were amazing and they stopped for photos in the right places. You get a great view of spinalonga and the bay. We were shown all the herbs that grow locally and... More

We had a trip on the Happy Train this week and had a very enjoyable trip into the mountains near Elounda. The trip was very good value and the excellent guide imparted lots of his local knowledge in a very informal way - I think this made the trip! We had opportunities to stop and take photos and see examples... More

A delightful drive with a knowledgeable guide up through the mountains and visiting places of interest. The construction of a windmill I found quite unique, despite being in a state of disrepair. The monasteries visited and their history was so interesting. I would have liked to spend considerably more time with the guide to gain more knowledge of the area.... More

We spend 4 fantastic hours on this lovely train trip. The guides are very knowledgable. You go through Plaka village and then up to lovely mountain villages,a monastery and to see old windmills.A stop in a lovely tavern on the way back to Elounda.Worth every penny.
