Superb, small but vey well laid out museum. 100% recommended to visit. All the exhibits are very clearly laid out and cross referenced with clear explanations and information. Some very interesting exhibits to see; we spent well over an hour in here looking at everything. I particularly wanted to see the Linear A tablets (some of the earliest recorded writings... More

For its small size the Sita Museum is one of the best educational museum of its ilk I have ever seen. With limited means they designed a very comprehensive exhibition space and the text panels are tremendously well written. Good English, concise and weaving the objects on display into the text seamlessly so you really understand what you see, both... More

This is an excellent museum beautifully laid out around a courtyard. There are large explanatory panels in English and it is arranged chronologically. Very interesting artefacts and explanations of the different Minoan and Greek periods. Because the museum is not too large ( takes maybe an hour) you can get a good understanding of progression of the culture. Beautiful reconstructed... More

The museum is in the centre of Sitia, and well signposted as to its location. This modern building is well worth a visit as the contents are all relative to the area of Eastern Crete and are fascinating even if you are not a fan of Archaeology. Whilst there are not hundreds of exhibits what are there are well displayed... More

We only stopped in Sitia for lunch but we found this fairly small but recently renovated museum just away from the town centre. It has been really well updated with attractions for children as well. It is probably not worth making a long detour just to make a visit to the museum but if you are in the Sitia area... More

We visited before the places of Kato Zakros and Mochlos. In this museum you can see what they found their. Not a big museum but a lot of interesting items. I can recommend this museum to everyone who is interested in the Cretan history.

Almost everything you see about t The Minoans tells you that you will ne able at this Museum... They have one big room to show what paintings would have looked like, based on fragments, and a small room with a few bits and bobs.. However little else. They have been renovating this museum since 2006 which is why so little... More

We visited this well presented museum whilst visiting Sitia on an overnight stay. The museum is located slighty back from the main waterfront just by a car tyre facility! Neverthelessthis museum is cheap to enter and presents various finds from the earliest known inhabitants of Crete upto and including the Roman occupation. Exibits include the finds from Kato Zakros and... More
