A brief ceremony to watch but still interesting in its formality. Traditional uniforms, especially the footwear interesting too.

If not for nothing, watching the render of the guard is unmissable. The Evzones are an elite ceremonial unit that guards the Greek Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Syntagma Square.   This army unit is known for its peculiar uniform, which has evolved from...More

It was cool to see the changing of the guards, which happens every hour on the hour. However, it does get crowded and is tough to see if you don't get there earlier to get a good spot.

We were staying nearby so this was our metro stop and was easy to walk back toward to see the changing of the guard. I'm not sure I would go if it was far out of the way, but with most things in Athens, it...More

The Syntagma Square will forever be known to most people as the site of recent protests against the Greek government's austerity measures. That is just as well because, while this is a majestic square, overlooked by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Square itself...More

Above average area. Pretty busy square with lots of buses. Watch the changing of the guard and enjoy the culture.

This centrally-located square is overlooked by the Parliament building and is probably regarded the most famous square in Athens. Previously, it has become the focal point for rallies and demonstrations, but for 99% of the time it is a peaceful place to visit. It is...More

Take time to see the guard change and their ritual "dance". Nice and more modern monument. Central place to meet and take the touristic buses around town. There are nice coffee shops around and souvenir shops as well

We came at 10:30 on Sunday especially to see this guardians exchange ceremony. Very interesting show! If you are around - don't miss! Come 15-20 ahead to catch the best place. Очень красочная церемения смены караула проходит по воскресеньям около 10:30. Если вам доведется быть...More

Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is
Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament
building on its upper side and surrounded by other
large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande
Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia
are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like
the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia
Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents,

The change happens every hour, on the hour. Ex: 1000, 1100, 1200, etc. Its best to arrive a couple of minutes before hand to get a front row seat.
