You want to be visiting this site as early in the day as possible to miss the crowds and the heat. Tickets are €20 but for €30 you can get a combined ticket to a further 6 sites, all within a short walk of the acropolis (and well worth it). The views are fantastic, and obviously you get to seethe... More

It doesn't take too long to walk up to the top of the Acropolis. For me it was the best attraction in Athens and a must if you visit the city. There are plenty of pleasant stops on the way up to the top and the views are incredible. I paid 30 euros for my ticket which included other attractions,... More

You can see Acropolis from almost everywhere in Athens, its a stunning site, accessible by foot from the subway station and the view from there is amazing.

It is best if you book a tour so you get lots of history information but even if you go on your own you cant escape the amazing experience of walking to such a historical, grand and awe inspiring site.

My grandparents visited this place 25 years ago and they told me its spectacular. And they were right. Even though its was so so hot. I have been there in August and there were 40 degrees Celsius in the shade. You need to see the acropolis once in a lifetime. Even though it was early in the morning, it was... More

I have been there already 2 times before - but ever again a MUST DO once in Athens. I think I don't need to comment what it means to stand on a place of such importance due to mankind and culture in the world ... (beside the nice views on Athens!)

Take your time to get there as it is a steep climb. It opens at 8am and this is a good time to go as less people. We went around 10am and there were crowds of teenagers and group tours which made it v difficult not to be swept along with them. Nevertheless you can't come to Athens without a... More

Get there before nine in the morning. Two reasons. One. It gets hot quickly and there is no shade. Two. There are fewer people. I entered at 8.30 am. It took half an hour to meander up the hill and when I reached the Parthenon there were about forty people on top. I spent an hour looking around. By the... More
