As a minimum the 50 minute 6 bridge boat tour is a must in Porto but better still take a full day cruise or drive into the valley for a day or more. Very beautiful and scenic

It is always there. We rented a bike and went to Matosinhos by the river, and it is very nice. Lovely at night.

I definitely recommend giving a walk along the Douro river. It doesn't matter if you go on the Porto side or Gaia side. Both courses are very interesting and relaxing. If you're a fan of walking and doing sight seeing then go for it! I...More

There is no escaping the river in Porto. You can walk it, cruise it and cross it. I recommend you do all three. It is crossed by 5 bridges and it is worth taking a drive or cruise to its mouth.

A short cruise along the Douro past the city's river banks and under its several impressive bridges gives an excellent overview of Porto's main architectural and geographical features. Alternatively, one could take a ride on the vintage tram along the river bank.

The cais da ribeira area is very beautiful, but the others parts of the river, not that much. Good restaurants along the cais area.

I visited The Douro with an organised tour group from Porto called Living Tours.
Hi. I'm interested in going on a two day cruise on the Douro and would prefer to book with a local company. Can anyone recommend the best company and boat to use?

We were actually staying in the Douro Valley up in the town of Pinhao. Several boats came up from Porto during the week (it probably is a two to three day trip there and back from Porto?) so I would imagine the best thing to... More

Hi Yes we did the trip end of the afternoon without any lunch. We got directly the tickets down to the pier in Villa Nova Gaia. It was very easy and convenient. Enjoy !
