Going into the Clerigos church, you'll find the ticket office and entry to the tower on your right. BUT, if you can't face all those steps, the long line, and the entry fee, ignore the line and turn left, following a narrow corridor into the church. It's not especially spectacular, but we entered at the time when an organ recital... More

We were in Porto in last November and impressed on the first day seeing the beautiful tall tower from our room. That was Clérigos church tower. The church was adjacent to it. The entry to the church was free, although there was an entry fee for the tower(3 euro). It was designed by the Italian architect Nasoni. The interior of the... More

It is a beautiful church. Airy and oval design, many windows. No fee to visit. The concerts here must be very delightful.

The church was built for the Brotherhood of the Clérigos (Clergy) by Nicolau Nasoni, an Italian architect and painter who left an extense work in the north of Portugal during the 18th century. The Clérigos Church was one of the first baroque churches in Portugal to adopt a typical baroque elliptic floorplan. The altarpiece of the main chapel, made of... More

They have a free organ recital here at 12.00 daily, unfortunately we only caught the end of this. We went up the tower and arrived at the carillon as it was chiming, this was deafening. I imagine the walk up and down at busy times is unpleasant. The museum was informative and worth a visit.

We didn't expect it, but were lucky to attend a short concert performing by several persons singing and playing instruments right inside. I'd say the sound is outstanding there, and whole the atmosphere is amazing. I'd recommend the travellers to google an events supposed to take a place there and attend them for sure! It's impressive experience!

The inside of this church is beautiful. I highly recommend making your way to the top of the bell tower. The views are magnificent. You can see the whole city from the top. Seeing the inside of the church just adds to the beauty.

My wife, two children, relatives and I visited Porto in August 2016. The Church of Sao Pedro dos Clerigos is part of the Clerigos Tower. You can visit the church from a balcony before going to climb the 225 steps of the Clerigos Tower. Porto has so many great churches and this is just another example. The Church of Sao... More
