This market has small boots with fruit, meat, fish and flowers. The building is not renovated and the interior is full of dirt and closed shops. The food restaurant at the north end of the market has unfriendly waiters and the food is poorly presented and served. Be careful. If you eat some of what is put unordered on the... More

Mercado do Bolhão is one of the most traditional places, still alive, for fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and small sales

The market is bustling with locals as well as tourists! Great little stop while exploring Porto. I would recommend going early in the day to avoid the crowds and get the freshest pastries!

This market has surely seen better days. Many stalls were empty and the place felt a little decrepit. It's in a lively shopping district, so it's worth stopping by if you want to browse the chain stores down the road.

Great local market where you can buy all the usual produce plus enjoy a nice glass of wine whilst watching the locals go about their business

We stayed in an apartment across the road from the market and went every day - except Sunday, when it's closed. It also closes earlier on Saturday. In the UK somebody would have gentrified this place and it would be full of yummy mummy entrepreneurs selling cup cakes and weird patchouli hippies selling dream catchers. Thank goodness it's Portugal! Some... More

Being from France I am used to busy colorful markets teaming with merchants and customers. We were told that Bolhao was the only remaining market in town so we expected a mad house snd lively atmosphere, instead (we went on Monday and Thursday) it was more like ten puny stands with very little to offer run by half-asleep elderly vendors, some... Visited this famous old market and was disappointed. Lots of the stall were empty, several quite delapidated. A lot of the stalks were obviously there for the tourist trade however it was good to see the fresh fruit and veg stalls and the fish market.
