Beautiful building
Sep 2021
The lobby has beautiful tiles and is a stop for many local tours. Easy to navigate the station if you are traveling by train.

Beautiful Building

Worth a quick visit just to see the wonderful interior. We actually caught a train to the main station from there.
There is also a good booth there selling the various tourist trips with very good English.

Not really special
Sep 2021 • Solo
Two out of the four walls (due to current construction) in the main entrance hall have pretty blue tiles on them. That’s all.
It’s not that impressive.
I was expecting much more.

Nice railway station
Jul 2021
Have to visit as its a main sight in Porto; train station with patterned tiled walls, so sorry I sound like it wasn't that special. It was very nice and you could take the train to places such as Aveiro for the day (1.5 hour train ride for about 7 euros return)

Not bad for an old monastery!

Some of best blue tile pictures in Porto. Nice café clear signage. The people of Porto are justifiably proud of this building which is enjoying some renovation at the moment

One of the most beautiful train stations in Portugal.
Jul 2021
Several mosaics cover the walls from waist level and rise to the ceiling. Although half the station is under repairs as of late July, you can still enjoy the beauty while you wait for a train or continue your stroll towards the Ribeira

Currently under construction

Sao Bento is a small, charming enough train station. It's the end of the line, so it's easy to find your train on one of the 6 track spurs. The main feature is its lobby with its extensive blue-tile mural.
At the time we visited it was a little challenging to find the ticketing office because of construction in the lobby.
Toilets are available for 1/2 Euro.

Check out this train station for the beautiful and historic "azulejo" tiles, that tell a bit of the city's history.

Charming train station
Aug 2020
It is indeed a lesson of history, the history of Portugal ! It has a beautiful architecture and it offers the visitors excellent paintings on the walls and a piece of the history of the amazing city of Porto. It is useful to take a train but also just to see it as a participant in the history of the country.

I treni partono ogni giorno, meglio chiedere in stazione qualche giorno prima e aver già pronti i biglietti, anche questi acquistabili a Sao Bento.

Hi,
I'd like to know how long luggage can be stored in the lockers at the Sao Bento station. We will be walking the Camino and need to leave the luggage for 18 days. Is that OK? Cost?
thanks.

Boa tarde.

Is the Timeout market now open in the Sao Bento train station? Read about the plans to be open late 2017. Thanks

No. I was there yesterday and there was no Time Out market there to be seen. Can’t see how that would work at the site, TBH. Perhaps near it, but inside it would be a travesty - in my humble opinion :)
If you’re after a market in Porto, I suggest the temporary market near the Balhao market which is currently under renovation. Happy travels.
