The Duoro River is really beautiful. The scenery is endlessly lovely, with vines clinging to steep slopes, beautiful wine estates, pretty farmhouses, and quaint villages. Unfortunately, I travelled up and down the river with AmaWaterways. The problem is the food. The menus are interesting, and...More

Holiday on Viking River Cruise Board Hemming. The scenery is lovely. The holiday was to celebrate my Birthday. It felt a special day with the waiters wishing me a Happy Birthday. Our cabin was wonderful with a balcony.

In May 2016 we booked a Douro river cruise with Riviera travel for Sept 2017. We wanted a cabin with a balcony but the only one left was a balcony suite so as it was a special occasion we paid an extra £800 to upgrade....More

Sightseeing the Douro river from a cruise (which I rather not say the name, because I think my review may apply to most cruises) can be a very relaxing experience. Besides the views, that are simply breathtaking, you can have drinks, you have a very...More

Highway N108 is road to use to take in the vineyards and steep banks of the Duoro east of Porto. A must drive!

We stayed for a few days in August and the staff were incredible-helping to arrange early morning airport transport, wonderful restaurant recommendations and always a friendly attitude! Definitely would stay here again.

This area is absolutely stunning. The river, vineyards, driving challenges all combine to make this a thoroughly wonderful place.

We are planning a visit to Porto for three nights and then renting a car to visit the Douro Valley. I was thinking of staying in Pinhao and doing day trips and then returning to Porto Was wondering what would be a good intinerary and if two nights is enough in Pinhao and also should we drive back to porto or continue to Lisbon to catch our light home

Two nights should be plenty in Pinhao. We took the train from Lisbon to Porto, where we stayed two weeks, so I cannot comment on driving to Lisbon. Walking along the ocean and the riverfront was rewarding. We enjoyed a... More
