I am staying at Enotel Quinta do Sol hotel and my room sadly over looks the extensive renovation work. It is excessively noisey and continues from dawn to dusk.

I was excited to visit these gardens and walked around for ages trying to find them. I had walked past without realising at it was all boarded up due to re-development and is no longer a viable attraction.

The park appears to be closed -- there are fences around it. We could see the gardeners hard at work and signs that some restoration is in progress. Let's hope so.

What a shame that these once spectacular gardens are so run down and neglected. We were disappointed to see this in a place that we have seen so lovely cared for; everywhere else in the surrounding area is so well kept. Perhaps the facilities have...More

I rarely get saddened by 'progress', but this is one of the exceptions. This was such a beautiful place once - I did my first bit of real swimming here when I was a small child in the late 60's - or very early 70's....More
