Good film and a comfortable venue, we were given headsets to listen to the commentary and a bag of sweets to enjoy. This is a good wet day attraction and the staff were very welcoming and professional.

Interesting story told quite well!, You have the volcanic beginnings to the slave driven "econmic highs" to the Madeira of today

Very dated. would benefit from a film or video exhibit Expensive and had the impression that the ticket man just wanted to have a meal in the restaurant.

Well laid out and very informative. Takes about 3/4 of an hour to whizz round. Some of the interactive things for kids not working though which means younger visitors might get bored,. Bonus points for the great cafe/restaurant upstairs on the terrace. You get 10% off your meal if you have a museum ticket. Feed the mind and then the... More

This was very interesting - perhaps not enough interactive things. I imagine children might be a bit fed up. I enjoyed the one where you had to build a ship and see if it sailed out of the harbour. We had a lovely meal in the rooftop restaurant.

This museum is great. It's not too long with not too much to read so that you lose interest half way. The story of the history of Madeira from volcanic eruption millions of years ago to the present day is fantastic. Well laid out, with great interactive displays charting its surprising history, flora and fauna, it is a very pleasant... More

My wife and I visited the centre although not the restaurant. At 5 euros each it was not expensive but did provide a lot of interesting information about the history of Madeira. There were some interactive elements plus information to read which means that children should enjoy it.

This is a lovely place to visit and get some history of Madeira. The museum is really very educational and we both enjoyed it. They have a lovely shop and cafe. Upstairs there is a lovely restaurant which has now been extended and has lovely views. We had a nice lunch of spicy Prawn pasta which was tasty but could... More

I visited the centre today to buy some souvenirs and upon entry a member of staff was very rude to me. I bought some pottery and having left the shop the bad that the member of staff had given to me broke. Leading the pottery to chip from being dropped. I then took the pottery back and the member of... More

A great place to escape the crowds in August. Was extremely quiet, I think there was only one other couple in the museum. Is a small but interesting museum about the history of Maderia. Unfortunatey the air-conditioning didn't appear to be working that day, and it was extremely hot.
