In Funchal down town sharing on of the square sides with the town hall on another side. The façade in Mannerist style contrast a lot with the exuberance in the interior. Fantastic gild carved wood altars, very good glaze tiles and quite interesting paintings. Enjoy!

Walking into this church there is a definite 'wow' factor. It is spectacularly ornate and, we thought, more impressive than Funchal cathedral. There were few tourists. We paid 1 euro to go up the tower. This had a great view over Funchal and also had displays on the history
