Great walk leader. Felt very safe along walk and enjoyed Alvaro's knowledge and humour. Would recommend. Suggest long trousers n waterproof jackets needed even if sunny and hot at resort. Couple of places not suitable for nervous walker or vertigo sufferer on this walk but...More

I took the half-day easy levada walk in Paradise Valley. Hotel pick up and return in clean mini-bus. The mini-bus drops you off at one end of the walk as collects you at the end. All very professional. The guide was eccentric, friendly and talkative....More

We chose the easiest walk the Mimosa Valley and the Mimosa were in full flower. It was an easy 4km walk along the canal with a witty and informative guide on the plants and the small holdings on the terraces.

Even if you're too tired of your work and you want to do nothing in Funchal but sleep. Or if you're indifferent to such kind of things as open air walks. Or if you think there's nothing that may impress you any more. Just believe...More

Funchal is the best place to do all of them, but depending on whether your walk is on the west or east of the island, the companies can be quite flexible in picking you up en route.
Is there a good place to stay if doing the levada walks? Thinking of staying in Funchal. Is that close/convenient enough. Thanks Sue

If you are doing one of the organised walks, then the company will pick you up from your hotel. This is probably the easiest way, if you have not been to Madeira before.
Hello, Steven Can you tell me if there are any lengthy downhill stretches on the Rabacal and the 25 Fountains hike? I am excited about doing it on our visit to Funchal. Thank you, sheryl
